To support its continued expansion in the European Space sector, ATG Europe is seeking a Business Development Director – Space to define and lead its commercial growth strategy.
This position is based in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, with regular travel across Europe. The Business Development Director – Space will define, lead and execute ATG Europe’s commercial and growth strategy within the Space domain.
The role requires strong strategic vision, deep knowledge of the institutional and commercial Space ecosystem, high‑level stakeholder engagement capabilities, and a proven track record in complex B2B environments.
The successful candidate will contribute to the definition and lead the implementation of the growth strategy of the company in the Space sector. They will oversee major bids, strategic partnerships, framework agreements and long‑term institutional relationships, ensuring sustainable and profitable growth aligned with the Group’s objectives.
Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership- Define and implement the Business Development Strategy for the Space sector;
- Develop mid‑ and long‑term growth plans aligned with corporate objectives;
- Identify strategic positioning opportunities within the European institutional Space ecosystem (including agencies, primes and key industrial partners);
- Contribute to the Group’s overall commercial strategy from a Space market perspective;
- Drive revenue growth and achieve annual and multi‑year Space sector targets;
- Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities within institutional and commercial Space programs;
- Strengthen ATG Europe’s positioning within major European Space programs and initiatives;
- Monitor market trends, procurement frameworks, funding schemes and competitive landscape;
- Build and maintain executive‑level relationships with Space agencies, prime contractors and key industrial stakeholders;
- Personally oversee strategic accounts and high‑value framework contracts;
- Represent ATG Europe at industry forums, institutional meetings and Space conferences;
- Lead complex tenders and high‑value proposal preparation within the Space domain;
- Oversee pricing strategy, commercial risk assessment and contract negotiations;
- Ensure optimal commercial terms and long‑term profitability;
- Guarantee structured hand‑over to Operations and ensure customer continuity;
- Lead and develop the Business Development function for the Space sector;
- Foster a performance‑driven, collaborative and accountable culture;
- Improve business development governance, reporting and forecasting processes in line with best practices;
- Maintain a robust and transparent sales pipeline;
- Provide regular reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Management;
- Track KPIs, revenue forecasts, margin targets and pipeline health;
- Ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational capacity;

- Master’s Degree in a relevant field;
- At least 10 years of experience in Business Development, Commercial Leadership or Strategic Sales roles within the Space sector;
- Strong knowledge of the European institutional Space ecosystem (e.g. Agencies, primes, large system integrators);
- Demonstrated experience managing complex institutional tenders and framework agreements;
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and cross‑functional coordination;
- Strategic mindset combined with strong execution capability;
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills;
- Willingness to travel internationally as required by business needs;
- Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
- Knowledge of additional European languages is an asset;
