The role

In this Senior Financial Analyst, ABU Forecasting role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Accommodations department. This position is based in Amsterdam, NL and will report to the Senior Manager of FP&A, ABU Forecasting.

This position offers the opportunity to drive financial decision making within Booking.com. You will be required to provide strong financial and analytical support to your business unit (BU) or department’s stakeholders. You will have to bridge what the data tell you and how that could help decision‑making on a wide array of topics. You will be supporting the planning and forecasting cycles for both financial and operational business metrics. This includes revenues, expenses and other important KPIs; it also includes non‑financial metrics and driver metrics of performance. You will also be involved in reporting versus budget and forecast and support on ad‑hoc analyses whenever there is a need from the business.

Specific to this Senior Financial Analyst, ABU Forecasting role, you will work in a team of Financial Analysts. Your span of work will be across all the Accommodations vertical; you will also support the wider Accommodations BU FP&A team and the entire FP&A sub‑department on cross‑functional projects.

Your role and the immediate team of colleagues will manage different Accommodation projects and you will focus on driving process improvements across the entire Accommodations team as well as other FP&A sub‑department teams. In addition you will be responsible for consolidating inputs (volumes, revenue and down to contribution margin) across a variety of sub‑teams (Accommodations, Product, Marketing) during the planning cycles in order to create the complete story/ narrative for our stakeholders as well as during our regular reporting cadence and ensure high quality of the final outcome. You will also be responsible for coordinating the timelines during the planning process to ensure all Accommodation sub‑teams deadlines are met.

Due to the continuous evolution of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves. This role requires a dynamic and proactive person with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support with forecasting, variance analysis and reporting of financial performance;
  • Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of the business unit or department’s key metrics;
  • Proactively deliver intelligence based on data to support and advise the FP&A team and/or business partners whenever necessary;
  • Provide analytical support and contribute to strategic decision making;
  • Continuously seek ways to improve and optimize the existing reporting to fit with evolving requests from senior management;
  • Perform ad‑hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance or other related field (preferred);
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills;
  • High attention to detail and ability to connect the dots and reconcile multiple data sources;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present to different audiences;
  • Self‑driven mentality, proactively seeking to find solutions to problems and providing the best analytics possible to key decision makers
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Experience with SQL, data mining, Microsoft VBA and reporting tools;
  • Ability to understand, work with and proactively advise business partners;
  • Sees the headlines or big picture whilst having attention for the details;
  • Strong team‑working skills with ability to work independently;
  • Comfortable working in cross‑functional teams and working in an unstructured environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
