Forbion BioEconomy is hiring a full-time Fellow to join our investment team for 6 months, starting March 2026, based at our headquarters near Amsterdam.
This is a hands‑on role designed for people who think scientifically but act commercially — and want to help build companies solving real planetary challenges.

About the roleThe fellowship at Forbion is a unique opportunity to be immersed in a dynamic, ambitious and professional work environment. You will gain wide and hands‑on exposure of Venture Capital investing, which include both due diligence and portfolio management activities.
This role is designed for candidates who combine a strong technical or scientific foundation with exposure to real‑world commercial environments — such as consulting, venture capital, start‑ups, scale‑ups, or industrial settings — and who are motivated to build a career at the intersection of science, sustainability, and investing.
Key activities include:- Deal flow management and screening
- Financial and commercial analysis
- Detailed due diligence of investment opportunities, including technoeconomic modelling, competitive benchmarking, technical and market deep dives
- Supporting portfolio value creation and strategic projects
This is not a passive internship, you are expected to be a core contributor to investment decisions, market analyses and team culture.
Who this is forWe are not looking for a traditional pharma profile. We are looking for people who can bridge science and business, and are curious about how technologies become investable companies.
Required background:- An advanced degree (masters, PhD or equivalent) in science or engineering (e.g biology, chemistry, bioengineering)
- A proven interest in bioeconomy, sustainability, climate, or industrial biotech
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Industrial or applied R&D experience with commercial exposure
- Exposure to multiple domains relevant to the BioEconomy fund
- Experience beyond academia, such as:
- MBA or equivalent business experience
- Strategy or management consulting
- Venture capital or corporate venture
- Start-up or scale-up experience
- Target start date: Mid-March 2026
