AnnouncementIn June 2025, LYB announced entering into an agreement and exclusive negotiations for the sale of four olefins & polyolefins sites and the associated business in Europe. The sites to be sold are located in Berre (France), Münchsmünster (Germany), Carrington (UK), and Tarragona (Spain). The sites together represent a scaled olefins and polyolefins platform strategically located in proximity to a longstanding customer base and with access and connectivity to key infrastructure.
Closing of the proposed transaction is currently expected in the first half of 2026. From the start, the new company will be a scaled leader in European Olefins & Polyolefins. Powered by strategically located assets, a diverse product portfolio, and operational excellence, it aims to transform the business, fostering an agile, entrepreneurial culture where fast decision-making and hands-on collaboration drive transformation and growth.

This is the roleThe Business Decision Analyst supports Newco’s senior management by delivering strategic, market, economic, and technology analyses focused on the polyolefins portfolio (HDPE, LDPE, polypropylene, and specialty products). The role evaluates commercial and operational decisions, providing reports and recommendations on profitability, strategic direction, capital investments, and opportunities for revenue growth or cost reduction. It also develops and assesses long‑term strategic business analyses. The position coordinates key elements of the Planning Process—including the Long Range Plan, Budget, and Annual Execution Plans—for the assigned business unit. It requires close collaboration with multiple internal teams such as Business Finance, Strategic Planning & Transactions, Manufacturing, as well as external consultants. Additionally, the analyst contributes to advancing digitalization by helping develop and enhance the company’s market‑intelligence platform.
This is who you areTo be successful in this role you must recognize yourself in the following profile: You demonstrate strong analytical judgment, capable of leading complex evaluations with a high attention to detail. Possess deep knowledge of economic drivers, market dynamics, corporate finance, and financial‑modeling tools such as IRR, NPV, EVA, and payback. You bring excellent interpersonal, communication, and storytelling skills that enable effective collaboration and influence across teams, including senior leaders. Additionally, you adapt well in evolving environments, proficient with advanced digital tools, and understand the key performance drivers of the chemical industry. - Master’s degree preferred in Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field;
- 5+ years current experience in business analysis, strategic planning, evaluation, performance management, business or financial analysis or a related analytical role are essential;
- Proven experience supporting commercial and/or operational decision making in complex, data intensive environments;
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels, balancing long term thinking with short term priorities;
- Good understanding of the petrochemical industry, particularly olefins/polyolefins business, has a preference;
- Fluent in English both written as oral.
