Vacaturebeschrijving

The Role

At Greenpeace, Integrity is not just compliance—it is how we act with courage, care for our people, and take accountability.

Greenpeace integrity is more than rules and procedures. It is the system that enables a global movement to act with courage, responsibly and consistently, in alignment with our values—while ensuring our people are safe, supported, and able to speak up.

We are seeking a Global Integrity Officer to serve as the custodian of Greenpeace’s Global Integrity System, ensuring it is robust, proportionate, and consistently understood and applied across the worldwide Greenpeace Network, with a particular focus on Greenpeace International.

In this role, you will steward the policies, frameworks, and processes that underpin ethical conduct, accountability, and compliance, supporting departments to meet their requirements without unnecessary bureaucracy, while actively strengthening safeguarding, psychological safety, and speak-up mechanisms. Through continuous improvement of integrity and control processes, you will help safeguard Greenpeace’s people, assets, reserves and mission and contribute to a culture that learns from challenges and embeds integrity into everyday decision-making.

What You Will Do Steward and Strengthen the Global Integrity System
  • Act as custodian of the Greenpeace Global Integrity System, ensuring coherence, consistency, and continuous improvement across the network.
  • Support compliance with financial, operational, and legal obligations while keeping integrity systems practical, accessible, and proportionate.
  • Uphold and embed the Greenpeace Code of Conduct, ensuring it is understood, lived, and applied fairly across contexts.
Lead, Connect, and Build Capability
  • Lead and support the Greenpeace Network Integrity Community of Practice of National and Regional Organisation (NRO) Integrity Officers fostering shared learning, trust, and collaboration.
  • Partner with NROs to strengthen local integrity practices while aligning with global principles.
  • Co-create policies, tools, and ways of working with NROs, collaborating across cultures, regions, and time zones.
  • Lead, motivate and manage Integrity Unit project staff, in line with agreed priorities and objectives
Advise, Enable, and Investigate
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to directors, managers, and teams on ethical dilemmas, moral hazards, and risk-aware decision-making.
  • Lead and oversee workplace investigations, ensuring processes meet legal requirements, ethical best practice, and Greenpeace values.
  • Ensure integrity concerns are handled consistently, sensitively, and with care for all involved.
Champion Speak-Up, Safeguarding, and JEDIS
  • Strengthen and promote a speak-up culture where concerns can be raised safely, respectfully, and without fear of retaliation.
  • Support safeguarding and psychological safety, ensuring people feel protected, listened to, and treated fairly.
  • Foster and champion a culture of Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Safety (JEDIS) across integrity systems and practices.
  • Promote learning and reflection, supporting moral learning rather than a purely compliance-driven approach.
What We’re Looking For

We know no one brings every skill or experience to a role like this. If you bring some of the following and are motivated to learn, collaborate, and lead with integrity, we encourage you to apply.

Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience in process design and improvement (Six Sigma or similar qualifications are a plus).
  • International professional experience across at least two countries or cultures.
  • Strong communication, writing, and reporting skills, with the ability to engage senior and diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with Policy drafting
  • Experience in organisational change management and development.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and at least one additional modern language.
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills, including work outside direct line-management structures.
  • Proven management or consultancy experience; executive-level expertise is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing budgets and operational processes (planning, presenting, monitoring).
  • Experience with workplace investigations
  • Experience advising on ethical decision-making and moral learning (desirable).
  • Strong stakeholder management experience within complex, cross-matrix organisations.
  • Experience with managing teams
