Accounting Lead

My client a leading global business is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Accounting Lead to oversee the full financial cycle for our organisation in the Netherlands. In this role, you’ll take ownership of general ledger accounting, monthly and year‑end reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cost allocation.

You’ll act as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders, ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful financial insights that support decision-making.

• Lead, coach and support a team of four finance professionals, fostering engagement, development and a hands‑on working style
• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budgets for group reporting
• Deliver quarterly financial statements in line with US GAAP/IFRS and internal standards
• Serve as the primary contact for IT Finance and business controllers, managing the general ledger and responding to ad‑hoc queries
• Collaborate with Procurement on invoice handling, cost centre setup and approval flows
• Provide clear and insightful monthly cost analysis to budget holders and senior leaders
• Oversee employee cost recharges, ensuring compliance with internal policies and SOX requirements
• Maintain a strong control environment and ensure timely and accurate payments
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, enhance use of the ERP (AFAS), and support optimisation of the purchase‑to‑pay process

You have:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (professional qualifications like RA/ACCA are a strong plus)
• 3+ years of relevant post‑qualification experience in accounting, ideally in an international environment
• A hands‑on attitude and strong attention to detail
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, with knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS
• Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel abilities, and ERP affinity (AFAS experience is a bonus)
• The ability to build strong working relationships across cultures and departments
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong written and spoken English (Dutch is a plus)
