What you do
The Consular Assistant interacts daily with U.S. citizens, visa applicants, host government officials, and other interested parties to provide the full range of Nonimmigrant Visa, Immigrant Visa, and American Citizen Services, including Special Consular Services and Fraud Prevention, offered at Post. The position requires a high-level attention to detail to ensure cases meet documentary requirements, as well as to spot trends or potential issues and escalate those as necessary. The job holder is fully cross trained to function in any role as required by consular scheduling. The job holder serves as one of the primary points of contact for U.S. citizens in the consular district and maintains a network of public and private sector contacts who may be able to assist U.S. citizens. Communicates directly with consular applicants, host country government officials, and U.S. citizens in distress, and assists in the preparation of emergency messaging and website updates. Fields inquiries by phone, in-person, or in writing (e-mail or written correspondence). The job holder handles routine inquiries and directs only highly complex, unusual, or questionable inquiries to a supervisor or consular officer.
What we ask (minimal requirements to apply)
· Minimum two years of experience involving the application of regulations and law, extensive public contact, customer service, and/or problem solving is required.
· Completion of two years of post-secondary education is required.
· Speaking/Reading/Writing Level IV (fluent) English. (This may be tested.)
· This position occasionally requires challenging, high-profile, and/or time-sensitive work without prior notice after routine business hours. It may involve some travel away from the office.
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands.
What we offer
· Annual salary of EUR 56,284 – EUR 78,795
· 8.33 % End of year bonus (13th month)

· One-year contract which will be renewed under the same conditions based on job performance, funding, and security clearance.
