What you do
The Supervisory American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant plays a critical role within the U.S. Department of State, ensuring the safety and well-being of U.S. citizens abroad. This position serves as the primary advisor to the ACS Chief and Consular Chief and oversees the delivery of a wide range of consular services, including passport issuance, special consular services, with emphasis on those cases having a sensitive nature, emergency assistance, crisis response, and provides technical and policy guidance and training to ACS officers. The incumbent supervises a team of up to 5 staff members, providing guidance and training, task assignments, and performance reviews. This role is essential for maintaining high standards of service and compliance with U.S. laws, regulations and policies. May frequently be called on to provide after-hours assistance for emergencies and to help plan and lead the ACS unit's response to crises.
What we ask (minimal requirements to apply
· Minimum three years of experience working in consular, migration, or in government/private institutions with public contacts and duties involving analysis of regulatory materials and complex regulations is required. In addition, a minimum of 6-12 months of supervisory experience is required.
· Completion of two years of college or university studies is required.
· Speaking/Reading/Writing Level IV (fluent) English and level IV (fluent) Dutch is required. (This may be tested.)
· This position requires challenging, high-profile, and/or time-sensitive work without prior notice after routine business hours. Travel is required within Post's consular district to include passport and citizenship outreach and prison visits, welfare and whereabout checks, court visits, town halls.
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands.
What we offer
· Annual salary of EUR 56,284 – EUR 78,795
· 8.33 % End of year bonus (13th month)
