What you do
As the Consul General (CG)’s Protocol and Executive Assistant, you support the Consul General in all public-facing aspects of the position. You manage all aspects of the CG’s calendar and communications, develop and coordinate outreach activities, and build and maintain contacts with Amsterdam’s governmental, cultural, educational, and business communities. You advise the CG on protocol, history, institutions, and cultural norms in the Netherlands, providing briefing papers as necessary. As office manager to the CG, you also manage all administrative aspects of the Consulate General Executive Office. You ensure strong internal communication within the Consulate General and coordinate with all sections in Mission the Netherlands on administrative and protocol matters.
What we ask (minimal requirements to apply)
· A minimum of three years work experience in public relations or communications is required, OR a minimum of two years work in these fields, plus a minimum of one year work experience as a secretary, administrative assistant, or executive assistant.
· Two years of college/university studies are required.
· Speaking/Reading/Writing Level IV (fluent) English and Dutch is required. (This may be tested.)
· A strong understanding of Dutch politics, business and cultural communities is required. The ideal candidate has an excellent outward demeanor to project a positive impression to the public, as well as experience in interactions (written and oral) with the public. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. While the position does not directly supervise, you must have a demonstrated ability to achieve results through others and in a team. The ideal candidate is flexible and able to pivot quickly to support changing priorities. The ideal candidate also has exceptional judgement in interactions with the public, as the job requires promoting all U.S. outreach priorities and goals with enthusiasm. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and curious to learn about local politics, business and culture, and possesses excellent public relations skills. The ideal candidate is also able to act with discretion.
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands.
What we offer
· Annual salary of EUR 51,388 – EUR 71,941
· 8.33 % End of year bonus (13th month)
· 8.2% Holiday bonus

· One-year contract which will be renewed under the same conditions based on job performance, funding, and security clearance.
