Project HSSE Officer

To ensure that all APM Terminals ‘Health, Safety, Security and Environmental’ (HSSE) policies and local and international laws and regulations are strictly followed by all stakeholders during all relevant construction and erection work on the construction site. This position is responsible for supervising and ensuring that all project stakeholders working on-site (designers, consultants, contractors, equipment, ICT, and service suppliers) deliver a safe and healthy container terminal. Contribute to the continuous improvement and safety awareness of the HSSE culture of all staff (from all parties) with the aim of avoiding incidents, accidents, and unsafe situations while contributing to a proactive approach.

1. Supervise all the site activities and maintain the HSSE standards of the organization.
2. Increase safety awareness at all levels within the project organization.
3. Propose, draft, implement, and monitor occupational HSSE Policy, Programs, and Procedures/work instructions.
4. Respond to employee’s HSSE concerns.
5. Work closely with the project team and especially package managers, PMC, contractors, and suppliers.

1. University or higher education degree in safety management; alternatively, a technical education with additional high-quality training in the field of HSSE (MVK/HVK/IVK).
2. Proven track record of HSSE supervision in construction, technical, maintenance, and port industry sectors (preferably container terminal world) for at least 5 years (3 years in the construction industry).
3. Experience and understanding of complex construction projects when representing the client organization.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Hands-on, organization, supervising, and directing HSSE activities on site.
6. Outside site works (70% outside site supervision / 30% office work).
7. Excellent Dutch and English communication skills; knowledge of German is an advantage.
