Senior Scientist – Antibody Discovery

We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior Scientist - Antibody Discovery who will be playing a significant role in the discovery and development of groundbreaking new medicines to treat cancer.

The Team
This is a vital role in the discovery and engineering teams at Merus. These teams focus on the discovery and engineering of our antibodies to be used in our preclinical and translational programs. You will also be part of a cross-functional team within an international organization where everything you do contributes to our company’s mission: closing in on cancer.

The RoleAs a Senior Scientist - Antibody Discovery your main task is to generate and characterize large and diverse panels of common light chain antibodies against the molecules targeted by our multiclonic antibodies.

Your responsibilities include the following:

• Design, write and execute experimental studies;
• Characterizing antibody targets
• Constructing and preparing antigens for immunization and antibody selection
• Designing immunization strategies
• Helping and overseeing antibody panel generation studies using for example phage display and next generation sequencing
• Characterization of antibody panels in a range of assays to assess affinity, specificity and functional activity;
• Working with our preclinical teams to identify potent multispecific antibody drugs based on the generated panels
• Delivering quality results in a timely manner;
• Coaching, and propagating skills and knowledge to team members;
• Collaboration with external parties.

Your ProfileThe ideal candidate for this role is a critical problem solver and an expert in the field of antibody discovery and engineering. You are a highly collaborative scientist that works well in teams, is quality-driven and focused on solutions.

In addition, you have the following experience:

• PhD degree in molecular biology or protein chemistry
• Minimum of 4 years relevant post-doctoral or industrial experience in antibody discovery and/or engineering;
• You have broad experience in molecular biology, cloning, and preferably in antibody phage display or other antibody discovery technologies;
• Strong knowledge and technical expertise in protein/antibody characterization including ELISA, FACS, SPR, NGS;
• You have experience in supervising lab staff;
