Maasvlakte II opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal, equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. In 2019, the addition of two Super Quay Cranes and ongoing efficiency improvements increased volume capacity by more than 20%.

The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particulate emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest. This makes APM Terminals Maasvlakte II one of the most innovative terminals in the world.

The Finance team plays a key role in the strategic processes at MVII. At MVII Finance is a key function, highly valued for contributions to fundamental decisions about the future of our business. We have multiple high-profile business cases that we are rolling out, including a super exciting EUR 1bio expansion that requires our expertise. The current situation is highly demanding and requires a go-getter mentality and business acumen. We expect Finance staff to be the enabler for the success of the terminal.

About the job position

As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will:

1. Lead monthly closure of books as per deadlines set by the organization.
2. Drive financial planning and control to ensure accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards.
3. Be responsible for Business Unit (BU) One Stream reporting accuracy and compliance with appropriate standards.
4. Ensure the balance sheet is reconciled as per group guidelines, with any exposure documented.
5. Act as a strategic partner for our CFO.
6. Work closely with the Junior Finance Business Partner, delegating actions accordingly.
7. Proactively participate in engagement calls to mitigate exposures in the balance sheet, escalating where necessary and driving closure of open items.
8. Lead the process of activities during book close, ensuring execution of all activities where actions are the responsibility of the Junior Finance Business Partner.
9. Drive full ownership and accountability of the regional balance sheet.
10. Ensure smooth running of the business and day-to-day operations by delivering consistent and seamless service.
11. Develop a performance management framework to meet overall organizational performance delivery requirements.
12. Drive Capex performance through direct follow-up with Capex budget owners and procurement to increase visibility on the “Value of Works” performed. Create intuitive dashboards to feed the Finance visual management system.

Critical Qualifications & Experience

1. A degree in Finance and Accounting and/or in Controlling, preferably an MBA / M.Sc. / ACCA or similar degree, with strong knowledge in Finance and application of IFRS from reporting to valuation.
2. 7+ years in Finance in an international matrix organization.
3. Experience as a Business Partner contributing to overall business direction and challenges.
4. Effective analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment for decision-making based on accurate and timely analysis.
5. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
6. Effective written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English.
7. Working experience in Transport/Logistics/Inland Services/Container Port Operations is an advantage.
8. IFRS Knowledge and Capex management experience is a plus.
9. Result-driven and an individual contributor with excellent multi-tasking abilities.
10. Strong interpersonal skills due to high cross-functional interaction required by the role.
11. Structured with a high attention to quality.
12. Ability to meet required goals and deadlines in a timely and accurate manner independently.
13. Effective and timely communication with all stakeholders involved.
14. High-level communication skills - Ability to manage expectations of multiple stakeholders.
