CDD 6 mois - Packaging Food Safety Risk Assessor (H/F)

Under the responsibility of the Danone VP Standards and Risk Management, the Department QFS Standards & Risk Management (SRM) has the mission TO ENSURE THAT DANONE CREATES, MANUFACTURES AND DELIVERS ITS PRODUCTS EVERYDAY WITH NO COMPROMISE ON QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY BY STRICTLY FOLLOWING THE DANONE COMPLIANCE POLICY AND ANTICIPATING QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY RISKS.

As a part of the QFS SRM department, the Packaging Food Safety Risk Assessor, who is reporting to the Chemical Safety Director, will detect, assess chemical & food safety risks and contribute to the deployment of standards to ensure an end-to-end packaging chemical risks management in order to secure consumer safety and Danone’s licence to operate.

This role is structured for a 6-month mission, with flexibility allowed for partially remote work and/or from other Danone locations, such as Amsterdam, depending on your situation.

Main Missions

• Conduct chemical & food safety risk assessments applied to food packaging and other food contact materials to:
  1. support the definition of best-in-class specifications & standards,
  2. secure new product launches (safe by design),
  3. accompany Danone’s license to operate in the context of crises/incidents.
• Contribute to tracking new science, risk assessment methodologies, and regulations on packaging & food contact safety risks relevant to the Danone portfolio.
• Develop and drive risk communication in the context of quality & food safety risk management activities.
• Contribute to or drive cross-functional projects related to food safety risk assessment and management applied to food packaging.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Danone Quality and Food Safety Management System.
• Identify and engage with scientific experts, external scientific organizations, and trade associations to support Danone’s food safety strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities

• Screen the scientific & regulatory environment for potential emerging risks related to chemical safety, packaging materials, and food contact materials.
• Capitalize on collected data to enrich knowledge, inform internal stakeholders, and secure safe business continuity.
• Deliver clear and transparent chemical food safety risk assessments for Danone packaging & food contact materials enabling robust decision-making.
• Create databases and tools to support chemical food safety assessments.
• Drive and contribute to the creation and update of best-in-class Quality & Food Safety standards, defining specifications for sourcing packaging raw materials and finished articles.
• Support the evolution & maintenance of a robust Danone Quality & Food Safety Management System.
• Interface with internal Danone business stakeholders and external parties (suppliers, scientific experts, and trade associations).
• Contribute to and animate internal quality & food safety education and training modules related to packaging materials and food contact materials safety.

The role requires:

• Competencies in food safety science, toxicology, chemistry, biology, and chemical & food safety risk assessment with proven track record experience in an industrial context (minimum MSc level or equivalent).
• Good knowledge of food safety and food contact materials regulations and compliance.
• Good communication skills (including good proficiency in English) and ability to defend strong science-based positions.
• Autonomy and willingness to adapt within a fast-changing business environment.
• Demonstrated project management skills and stakeholder management.
• Ability to travel occasionally to other Danone locations or technical conferences (around 10 days yearly).
