Restaurant Taste of India is located in an attractive wharf cellar on the famous Oudegracht, in the heart of Utrecht. Our menu is as diverse as India itself, with dishes from both North and South Indian cuisine.
Our chefs work from an open kitchen and they roast, grind and blend the spice blends themselves, for the ultimate taste experience. Our dishes are prepared à la minute, which means we can also take special dietary requirements into account.

You will join an international team where English is the official language. Our chefs will teach you the tricks of the trade; how to make naan breads, tandoori dishes and curries.
Tasks
Job description and tasks
- Preparatory work (washing, cutting, mixing) and contributing to and coordinating cooking and preparation techniques while monitoring the quality of the dishes.
- Dishes are prepared (simultaneously) and interim quality checks are carried out on doneness, taste and color.
- Compliance with hygiene rules and guidelines (HACCP)
- Inventory and ordering management: Daily activities are planned and food and other stock replenishments are ordered. The ordered items are received, checked, and stored. The shelf life and hygiene of the stock are monitored.
- Tidying and cleaning tasks: The work environment and kitchen equipment are cleaned and waste is disposed of. Any issues and/or deficiencies are identified and, where necessary, minor malfunctions are independently resolved.
- Providing technical guidance to support staff.
- Improvement proposals and optimization: Contributing to the development of new recipes and the restaurant menu.
Requirements
Your profile
- MBO 3 working and thinking level
- You have demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
- You show initiative
- You can handle stress and peak workloads well
- You are quality-oriented
- You are hospitable and guest-oriented
- You have a positive attitude and can work well in a team
- You don't mind working during the day, in the evening, and on weekends.
- You can communicate well in Dutch or English.
- We are looking for candidates from the Netherlands or the EU.
Candidates who do not yet have all the qualifications but are ambitious to acquire them through internal training are also invited to apply.

- Gross salary in accordance with the Horeca CAO (Collective Labor Agreement) between €2.506 and €3.033 gross per month (based on experience)
