The energy transition is in full motion and Eneco is helping to lead it. Our ambition? That goes for our operations and the energy we deliver to millions of customers. From building wind and solar parks to innovating in energy trading. We're investing in real impact and scaling that impact across Europe.

To accelerate this journey, we're looking for sharp analytical minds. As a Carbon Trading Analyst, you’ll play a key role in supporting our trading activities with advanced market insights, models, and tools, enabling data-driven decisions in a fast-moving and highly strategic environment.

You will contribute to the commercial success of Eneco’s trading desk by performing best-in-class carbon fundamental and market analysis and models. Your work will provide actionable insights into the European carbon markets. You will also work closely with the analysts covering other markets, such as power and gas.

Trading Support & Strategy Development
  • Work closely with carbon trader to generate and evaluate trade ideas.
  • Provide pre-trade analysis, scenario modelling, and price forecasts.
  • Identify opportunities across compliance markets, and in related markets (power, gas, fuels).
Market Intelligence & Policy Analysis
  • Monitor and analyze carbon markets (EU ETS, UK ETS, CBAM).
  • Stay abreast of regulatory and policy developments (e.g. Fit for 55, MSR).
  • Assess the impact of policy changes on market fundamentals and pricing.
  • Follow macroeconomic trends and their effect on carbon markets.
Modelling & Analytical Tools
  • Develop and maintain trading tools based on fundamentals and/or technical analysis.
  • Maintain and improve carbon market models (supply-demand, TNAC/MSR).
  • Analyze auction results, emissions data, and market trends.

We’re looking for someone who combines deep market knowledge with a practical mindset.

Qualifications & Experience
  • A Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in gas market analysis in a trading environment, an energy company, a hedge fund or a market research company.
  • Familiarity with European EUA/UKA fundamentals and modelling approaches.
  • Solid Python programming skills and experience working with data (SQL, APIs, etc.).
  • A pragmatic, hands‑on approach and a drive to improve models and processes.
  • The ability to stay focused in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift with the market.
  • Experience in power, gas or broader energy markets is also welcome.

You’ll join the Trading Analysis Team. This a front-desk analytical team which works alongside traders on our trading desk, which is responsible for trading carbon, gas, and power from day‑ahead up to several years ahead, using both physical and financial instruments. The team provides the analytical backbone of the desk.

Your primary focus will be the European exchange traded carbon markets (EUA, UKA), but you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues covering power and gas. The environment is international, high‑paced, and collaborative — bringing together talent from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

For more information about how to apply, you can contact our recruiter at randolph.mackay2@eneco.com. If you think that you are a good fit, then don't wait and apply right now. • You are situated at the heart of Eneco, right between production, sales, and trading
  • You work on complex and analytical challenges in the dynamic energy market
