Job Summary:Order to Cash is looking for an experienced Data Scientist II to design and operate data science solutions to measure and optimize O2C operations across collections, payouts, and revenue operations. In this role, you will take ownership of the design and delivery of data science solutions from ideation to implementation, including data consumption, preparation, and translating business problems into data stories. You will apply statistical data analysis and modeling methods to solve complex problems. You will work within the O2C Global Finance Analytics team and, as an experienced member, provide guidance to junior colleagues, engage in peer review, and influence decisions within O2C and across departments.
Key Responsibilities:- Own the design and delivery of end-to-end Data Science solutions based on business requirements, from idea generation to implementation.
- Autonomously consume data, prepare data for science use, translate business problems into data stories, and solve them using appropriate statistical analysis and modeling methods, incorporating input from business stakeholders.
- Work primarily within the scope of your team to deliver work that informs business decisions, with occasional cross-team collaboration.
- Design and interpret quantitative experiments to objectively guide key business decisions.
- Independently identify and manage stakeholders in operational, project-based, and managerial roles; communicate results clearly and begin to guide junior colleagues in stakeholder engagement.
- Be flexible in adopting existing internal and external Data Science approaches, proposing new methods as opportunities arise to improve efficiency and expand technical competencies.
- Leverage Data Science for impact with an emphasis on scalability, reproducibility, and long-term orientation.
- Act as a force multiplier for junior peers through coaching, mentoring, and setting a good example.
- Contribute to the community by supporting projects that enhance the effectiveness of data professionals and engaging in community activities.
- Stay knowledgeable about Booking.com’s broader data ecosystem and how it relates to your work.
- Collaborate with peers in related roles (e.g., Data Engineering) to anticipate data needs and ensure smooth project progress.
- Understand the operational, tactical, and strategic goals of your area and have awareness of the wider Business Unit goals.
- Ensure quality of work through peer review and influence business decisions within your area.
- Experience solving real problems with data mining techniques and statistical rigor, and translating business problems into data problems.
- Knowledge and practical experience of Statistical Methods (e.g., Testing, GLM, Inference), Statistical/Machine Learning (e.g., Dimension Reduction, Clustering, Regularisation, Bagged/Boosted methods), Time Series, etc.
- Strong experience with A/B Testing and a range of Experimentation methods.
- Strong experience in data engineering concepts: ETL, data warehousing, data modeling, and data quality management.
- Solid understanding of DBT, Snowflake, Spark, SQL, Python and/or R.
- Solid understanding of data management (schema design, data pipelines, workflows).
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Strong data visualization skills and storytelling with data.
- Proven understanding of the possibilities and limitations of different data analysis and/or data science modelling approaches.
