VAT Manager

At Tesla’s regional HQ in Amsterdam (the position could also be done from Berlin) a newly created role of EMEA VAT Manager has arisen. The VAT Manager reports to the EMEA VAT Director also based in Amsterdam and is part of the VAT team consisting of 8 people. The VAT Manager will have a focus on the EMEA region for all VAT advisory issues and technical VAT questions. The VAT Manager will be involved in cross border VAT projects, answering a wide variety of VAT questions from the various business lines a.o. Automotive (cars and leasing), energy (powerwalls, ,megapacks, solar etc), Robotaxi, Optimus (robot) and supercharging.

More specifically, the main tasks and responsibilities include:

• Manage and advise on optimizing indirect tax positions in the group for EMEA;
• Initiate and implement indirect tax opportunities and identify risks;
• Be involved in cross border VAT projects, answering a wide variety of VAT questions from the various business lines;
• Further develop the effectiveness of the Indirect Tax structure;
• Provide VAT advice and trainings;
• Assist local tax teams and coordinate indirect tax audits in several countries;
• Work with the businesses and corporate functions to identify VAT risks and opportunities;
• Assist and support the VAT Accountants in the compliance processes when required;
• Ensuring the integrity of IT systems for VAT purposes and work closely together with the VAT Automation expert;
• Liaising with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Supply chain, IT and Accounting Department;
• Manage relationship with tax service providers and the tax authorities.

The ideal candidate has a (university) degree in tax and some 5-8 years working experience VAT advisory. You have excellent knowledge of VAT in the EU/EMEA. Some experience with VAT automation (Vertex) is a plus. You are accurate and you can work independently, area highly organized project manager and able to focus on details without losing overview. You are an analytical thinker with excellent communication skills interacting at all levels in the organization, proactive, and drive for excellence. Fluent in English. You are EU based, no relocation cost will be granted.
