The RoleAs Research Advisor, you will provide technical, analytical, and coordination support throughout the research cycle. You will help design, implement, and disseminate ethical and participatory research that enhances learning, accountability, and policy influence. Working under the guidance of the Research Lead, you ensure that research evidence is credible, accessible, and effectively used to inform TdH NL’s programs, advocacy, and partnerships.
Key ResponsibilitiesResearch Implementation & Technical Support
- Provide hands‑on support for the design and execution of research projects, including tool development, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods research in areas related to child exploitation, such as child labour, sexual exploitation, and trafficking.
- Coordinate research ethics and approval processes, ensuring compliance with TdH NL’s safeguarding, child‑sensitive, and trauma‑informed standards.
- Contribute to the development of research protocols, instruments, and data management systems that ensure methodological rigour and data quality.
- Assist in monitoring research progress, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to agreed standards and procedures.
Collaboration, Learning & Evidence Uptake
- Support collaboration between the Research & Influencing team and the Programmes and Communications teams to ensure research findings inform programme design and advocacy.
- Contribute to the production of research outputs such as briefs, summaries, reports, and position papers for internal and external use.
- Facilitate the internal dissemination of research findings, ensuring key insights are shared across departments and with partners.
- Promote learning and reflection by supporting events, presentations, and workshops that translate research findings into actionable insights.
Partnerships & Capacity Strengthening
- Liaise with implementing partners, academic institutions, and consultants to support research coordination and delivery.
- Support research capacity strengthening among partners and staff, including participatory research with children and youth.
- Deliver training or technical sessions on basic research tools, ethics, and data management where relevant.
Resource Mobilization & Knowledge Management
- Support the inclusion of research components in proposals, budgets, and project plans, in collaboration with the Research Lead and Programme Managers.
- Contribute to knowledge management by ensuring the proper documentation, accessibility, and archiving of research resources and datasets.
- Assist in maintaining research databases, tracking deliverables, and contributing to reporting on organisational research KPIs.
- Research Skills: Experience supporting research projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with mixed‑methods design and tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, SPSS, Atlas.ti, Excel).
- Ethical & Participatory Practice: Experience with child‑sensitive and trauma‑informed research processes.
- Child Rights Understanding: Knowledge of child rights and protection issues.
- Communication Skills: Ability to produce clear, well‑structured reports and briefs.
- Collaboration: Experience working in cross‑functional and multicultural teams.
- Languages: Fluency in English; Dutch is an asset.
