Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Calibration Engineer will ensure compliance of the calibration system, maintain and improve equipment and measurement systems, provide support to manufacturing, operations, facilities, and contribute to continuous improvement and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all Inspection, Measuring, Test Equipment (IMTE) measurement systems are calibrated, inspected, checked, maintained and safeguarded in a timely, compliant, efficient and consistent manner according to company specifications, guidelines and procedures.
- Develop and maintain a master schedule of calibration to minimize impact on daily operations.
- Arrange and execute calibration work orders in priority order, recorded promptly by internal personnel or external suppliers.
- Judge and review gauge status based on results, maintain and label calibration status.
- Segregate non‑conforming and overdue gauges per requirements.
- Perform calibration procedures using applicable standards.
- Maintain calibration records in Maximo system.
- Calibrate and qualify new equipment and input into the calibration system.
- Maintain the calibration system.
- Maintain local procedures and templates for calibration.
- Ensure disposition and changes to calibration follow procedures.
- Analyze calibration data, establish and verify intervals for robust operation.
- Develop in‑house calibration capability.
- Support and participate in projects/initiatives and develop new calibration methods.
- Manage spare parts inventory for calibration gauges.
- Ensure new measuring instruments meet requirements when implemented.
- Support quality audits to keep calibration audits ready.
- Support equipment maintenance.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance procedures to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Support problem solving.
- Define problems, conduct root cause analysis and improve efficiency and productivity.
- Identify improvement options for the calibration systems.
- Assist with implementation of improvements in calibration and engineering processes.
- Generate calibration related non‑conformances and support related CAPAs.
- Follow all company safety policies, GMP requirements and records management policies.
- Maintain communication of business‑related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Electronics, Metrology, Instrumentation) and 4‑6 years of experience in related fields.
- Bilingual: Fluency in English required; Dutch preferred.
- Experience in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry or medical field; knowledge of GMP/ISO 13485 preferred.
- Experience in calibration systems required; knowledge of calibration and metrology required.
- Knowledge of electronic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices.
- Knowledge of ERP, Maximo, Quality Systems & Documentation Control Systems.
- Capable of interpreting vendor maintenance/calibration/qualification reports.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet analysis, data management.
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex issues to others.
- Ability to work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders.
