RWE Renewables is looking to recruit a Marine Ecology Manager for the Offshore Development Benelux Team.
Your role
As a Marine Ecology Manager you will be a key advisor within the development organization and in reaching RWE’s 2030 sustainability target to become net-positive for biodiversity on new assets. You will take a lead role on ecological matters of the OranjeWind project and support our tender team on ecological proof points for the upcoming offshore wind tenders. Furthermore, you will focus on ecological pilot projects and Joint Industry Programs (JIPs) to build knowledge and expertise, ensuring that this expertise is applied across RWE's offshore renewable energy portfolio.
You have a good insight into environmental matters, procedures and legal frameworks relevant for the Benelux. You will be expected to take a collaborative and direct role in supporting the Development Team in strategic environmental topics and ecological matters. You will work closely with various experts, including other ecologists, permit managers, engineers, marine ecology consultants, governments, as well as with Universities and knowledge institutes in relation to monitoring, assessment and dissemination programs.
The role is primarily based in Utrecht; however, travelling across the Netherlands will be required on a regular basis and flexible working from home is possible.
Your future plans
- Act as Marine Ecology manager within our existing project pipeline
- Take a lead role in our project OranjeWind in relation to all ecology related matters and requirements, such as the impact of the project on marine life
- Support our tender team and develop the ecological proof points to be included in the offshore wind tender bids, aiming to make our next tender bids as environmentally realistic as possible
- Provide environmental and ecological support and advice throughout the organisation, be involved in RWE’s pilot project and JIPs
- Facilitate implementation of innovative environmental and ecological solutions in close collaboration with our engineering and technical innovation departments and external partners
- Liaise on a continual basis with authorities, partners, marine ecology consultants and other stakeholders related to environment and ecology
Your profile
- You have a master's degree in e.g. Environmental sciences, marine ecology or a comparable discipline
- You must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in marine ecology, with required expertise in offshore renewable energy development and its ecological impacts
- In-depth understanding of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) approaches and delivery, including impact and mitigation measures
- Experience in working in complex and multidisciplinary projects and teams
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) in Dutch and English and ability to communicate complex issues to internal and external stakeholders including relevant authorities and contractors
- Proven leadership and project management skills
- You are a person who likes being part of a team. Your way of working is independent, structured and conscientious
