Do you have a strong interest in people and technology and want to contribute to optical innovations?

As engineering manager, you will be the driving force within the Demcon focal organization. You will take charge of all engineering work processes, ensure the right staffing for projects, and coach more than 20 optics & vision engineers.

Demcon Focal is a high-tech development and engineering partner with a deep-rooted fascination for light, precision, and advanced imaging systems. We specialize in creating customized optomechatronic and vision systems, supporting our customers from the initial concept through to final assembly. By integrating optics, optomechanics, and software into coherent and robust solutions, we enable technological progress in the most demanding applications. In doing so, we build on our extensive and fundamental knowledge of the properties of light.

What are you going to do?

As engineering manager, you are the face of the department and play a key role in the company. With your energetic and entrepreneurial attitude, you will take our department to the next level and contribute to the further growth of Demcon focal.

Your most important task is to develop the talent within our team. You help our employees grow by offering them challenging projects and coaching and training them. In doing so, you ensure that the competencies within your team are maintained.

In addition, you will provide the right facilities and work on setting up and improving working methods. Our department is developing strategically to meet the needs of the current and future market. To this end, you will maintain a network with other Demcon companies and regional partners, such as the University of Twente, Saxion, and relevant professional organizations.

In addition to developing, coaching, and assessing your team members, you will also have operational tasks. You will assign employees to projects and closely monitor their contributions. You will be responsible for the quality and efficiency of your team's work in the projects.

What do you bring to the table?

• Completed technical university education with an affinity for physics and optics in particular;
• Several years of experience in developing systems from concept to realization;
• You are an inspiring personality and a people manager, with a natural drive for continuous improvement of operational processes;
• Strong communication skills at all levels (team, customer, and internal);
• You are a bridge builder between people, departments, and projects;
• You recognize yourself in the DEMCON core values: committed, customer-focused, and collaborative;
• Excellent command of spoken and written Dutch and English.
