Purpose of the roleThe Technical Advisor (Influencing) – SEC NL supports Terre des Hommes Netherlands’ (TdH NL) advocacy, influencing, сообщили, and policy engagement on the prevention of and response to the sexual exploitation of children (SEC), with a specific focus on the Netherlands. The role contributes technical input, coordination, and advisory support to ensure influencing efforts are evidence‑based, participatory, and aligned with the Global Influence and Advocacy Strategy (GIAS) and Dutch Influence and Advocacy Strategy (DIAS). Working under the guidance of senior technical colleagues, the Advisor helps integrate influencing into programme design and delivery and strengthens TdH NL’s visibility and credibility within the SEC thematic area. The position supports ethical and trauma‑informed child participation, ensuring that children’s lived experiences inform advocacy, research, and learning in safe and meaningful ways.
Position in the organisationThe Technical Advisor (Influencing) – SEC NL is part of the SEC thematic area within the Programmes Team of the Impact Department and reports to the Technical Expert – mune. The role works closely with colleagues across the Impact Department, including Research & Influencing, Communications, and Partnerships & Quality, to support coherence between programming, learning, and advocacy in the Netherlands. The role also works closely with the SEC influencing team in Brussels to ensure alignment with EU advocacy.
Result areas and core activities 1) Influencing and Advocacy Support- Support the implementation of TdH NL’s influencing agenda within the SEC thematic task in the Netherlands by contributing evidence screw, analysis, and programme learning to advocacy activities.
- Contribute to the development of influencing strategies, campaigns, and policy positions, aligned with GIAS and DIAS.
- Assist in planning and coordinating lobby and advocacy activities targeting Dutch policymakers, ministries, and relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in Dutch thematic networks, coalyşio, and multi‑stakeholder forums, representing TdH NL.quit when appropriate and under guidance.
- Draft and support the development of policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials with clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
- Support the integration of child participation and trauma‑informed approaches into influencing work, ensuring ethical standards are upheld.
- Contribute to Private Sector Engagement (PSE) related to SEC influencing, supporting corporate accountability and safer business practices.
- Provide technical input into SEC‑related programme design and implementation in the Netherlands, supporting thematic quality, safeguarding, and integration of influencing objectives.
- Support delivery of training, briefings, and technical guidance to staff and partners on SEC prevention, advocacy, and lobbying.
- Contribute to programme reviews, evaluations, and learning processes, ensuring insights inform adaptive management and advocacy priorities.
- Support cross‑thematic learning, sharing relevant SEC influencing lessons within TdH NL and with external partners.
- Ensure ethical and meaningful.tap child participation within assigned activities, applying safeguarding and trauma‑informed practices.
- Work closely with the Technical Expert – SEC and senior influencing colleagues to ensure alignment between influencing, research, and programme delivery.
- Coordinate with Research & Influencing, Communications, and Partnerships & Quality teams to support coherent, evidence‑based SEC advocacy.
- Support alignment between programme learning and external messaging to strengthen the impact of SEC‑related advocacy.
- Support external engagement with advocacy coalitions, policymakers, donors, and private‑sector stakeholders relevant to SEC in the Netherlands.
- Provide technical input to proposal development and donor engagement, ensuring influencing objectives are reflected.
- Support communications efforts by contributing to ethical, evidence‑based storytelling and advocacy messaging.
- Contribute to a fundraising‑aware approach by linking SEC evidence and learning to partnership and funding opportunities.
- The ideal Technical Advisor (Influencing) – SEC NL brings: Advocacy and Influencing Experience: Demonstrated experience supporting policy engagement, advocacy, or lobbying修改, preferably in child rights, protection, or exploitation contexts.
- Technical Understanding of SEC: Solid knowledge of sexual exploitation of children, including links to child trafficking, child labour, and online exploitation.
- Child Participation and Safeguarding: Practical experience эст supporting ethical, safe, and meaningful participation of children and young people.
- Evidence‑Based Policy Work: Ability to translate research and programme insights into advocacy messages and policy inputs.
- Collaboration Skills: Experience working with governments, CSOs, and/or private‑sector actors in multi‑stakeholder settings.
- Communication: Strong writing and communication skills in English and Dutch.
- Education and Experience: Relevant academic background and approximately 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
