We are seeking a Senior Researcher to join our Engineering Experience & Platforms (EEP) domain with the aim of becoming more customer obsessed. Your mission is to measure and gather insights on our Engineering Experience and thereby help the product teams deliver better product experiences.
This is a freelance assignment until the end of 2026 for 32 hours per week.
What you are going to do
- You independently initiate customer and user research to uncover and prioritize underlying opportunities or problems
- You help shape the vision that leads to complete digital customer journeys
- You create clear research proposals and solid test plans, and you know how to bring others along in this process
- You are able to convince stakeholders of the importance of sound research and ensure they actively work with your insights and results
- You can independently carry out both qualitative and quantitative research, which includes being highly skilled at conducting interviews
Your responsibilities
- Independently conduct qualitative and quantitative research
- Support and enable colleagues in performing user research
- Set up developer experience metrics to measure usability and satisfaction
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to shape optimal internal digital journeys
- Present insights convincingly and ensure they are implemented

Who you are
We are looking for a professional that has:
- At least 8 years of experience in user research
- Academic background in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or similar
- Strong knowledge of Design Thinking and excellent empathy skills
- Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset with a hands-on attitude
- Excellent communication and collaboration and influencing skills
- Affinity and interest in software development and engineering; you understand the context engineers work in and can empathize with their challenges
- Experience with or knowledge of frameworks like DORA, SPACE, and DevEx is a strong plus
- Experience with setting up and interpreting developer experience metrics (such as CSAT) for internal platforms is a plus
Who you will work with
You will work with the Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. You will be collaborating closely with product managers, product owners, UX-designers and engineers. Together, you make internal customer-centricity the standard. Your work provides colleagues with clear insights into the success potential of their solutions and drives continuous improvement of internal journeys. You help colleagues understand what engineers need in their work. You do this by enabling them to run tactical research. You also work with engineers on continuous discovery through ongoing explorative research into key engineering journeys and platform tasks.
In our domain, we focus on optimizing engineering journeys, tools, and platforms to create a seamless engineering experience. One example is our Internal Developer Portal (Zelda), which serves as a central hub for engineers. Through Zelda, they can easily discover available software and its ownership, access documentation and quickly kickstart building applications, all in one place. Next to that we have the Service Now Portal and other platforms that serve engineers in their day-today work.
