About this role The common objective of Finance is to be able to report reliable information for our various stakeholders. The Financial Controller is a key role player in achieving this objective. The role is responsible for contributing to the quality of the country and consolidated numbers, collaborating with in‑country contacts and other group stakeholders, improving financial processes, monitoring on internal controls, monitoring on compliance and contributing to process improvement, projects and ad hoc questions.The roles key deliverables are the financial reporting deliverables to local management and the Group, financial reporting included in consolidated financial information / statements and financial reporting requirements locally in compliance with local laws and regulations (e.g. Statutory financial statements, digital sales tax, tax inspections, etc).
These are some of the key components to the position:- Closing the books of the local entities in an accurate, timely and efficient way
- Leadership: Regularly meeting with other financial controllers, Business partners, FP&A and the GFO managers. Operating as the communication channel between GFO, Group finance, local business partners and other specialist finance functions such as FP&A, tax, procurement and treasury.
- Internal reporting and analysis: Collect, interpret and explain financial and managerial data based on trends/expectations from knowledge of the GFO and the business.
- Monthly reviews and reporting: Contributing to an effective, efficient and accurate and qualitative MEC process by performing critical analyses on country / consolidated financial data. Contribute to periodical and ad-hoc reports for management reporting and for external stakeholders. Monitor financial reporting and control processes, making and implementing recommendations for policy/procedural improvements and ensuring compliance.
- Accounting compliance: Ensure ongoing compliance and consistent application of the Group Accounting Manual (IFRS), the chart of accounts and any other group finance process or policy. Ensure compliance with local GAAP for statutory reporting.
- Audit coordinator: Coordinating with external auditors and internal Tax team for tax audits.
- Big 4 and/or other relevant audit or controller experience with a large listed multinational
- Background in accounting with a relevant postgraduate degree and a professional qualification (i.e. RA, ACCA, CA, CPA or similar)
- Knowledge of IFRS, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ISA's are required. Knowledge of Dutch GAAP is a plus.
- Familiarity with finance ERPs and/or Consolidation/reporting tools is preferred.
- Helicopter view: demonstrates a complete understanding of the Finance function and its many processes. Therefore, based on developments, being able to anticipate implications for accounting / taxes and assure that this is followed up in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills in English are required. Dutch language skills is a plus.
- Able to work independently as well as align with colleagues in Amsterdam and in our operating regions around the world

- Teamplayer and hands‑on professional: be able to take care of complex topics and guide them through to success / completion.
