Fighting money laundering and terrorist financing is a critical responsibility with major social impact. Every day, more than 11 million transactions are analyzed to detect suspicious patterns. Since criminal behavior constantly evolves, our Transaction Monitoring (TM) solution must adapt and improve just as quickly.
As a Medior Data Scientist / Engineer, you will play a key role in building and enhancing advanced data-driven solutions. You design and deliver scalable data pipelines, write high-quality code, and contribute to the integration of machine learning into monitoring models. With your expertise, you will ensure our systems remain robust, adaptive, and effective in combating financial crime.
What you will do- Develop and build scalable components for large-scale data processing (PySpark).
- Analyze source and output data to detect and prevent potential issues.
- Anticipate performance challenges and design future‑proof solutions.
- Test and monitor the performance of the TM solution.
- Contribute to building a Machine Learning platform and orchestrating model workflows (ML Ops).
- Collaborate with platform teams using Airflow, Databricks, and Azure.
- Take ownership of large parts of the data and infrastructure, delivering high-quality designs and code.
- Guide and support junior and medior colleagues to adopt best practices.
- Align with IT, Architecture, and Data Science teams to ensure optimal model performance.
- Act as a key counterpart for senior management.
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Econometrics, or another STEM discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or advanced analytics, with strong skills in Python and PySpark (Azure Databricks is a plus).
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices: Git, release management, unit testing, testing strategies.
- Passion for building large-scale, efficient, and scalable data solutions.
- Analytical mindset with a critical and curious approach.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Dutch.
