Your jobWorking in Pharmacology means contributing to better patient care and healthcare in general. As a full professor in pharmacology, you will lead innovative research bridging fundamental pharmacological mechanisms with clinical and translational applications. You guide your research group and play an active role in shaping both the scientific and educational direction of our department. You are committed to teaching, using your expertise to bring core pharmacological concepts to life and to inspire students through research‑based and active learning strategies.
In addition, you:
- conduct innovative and internationally visible research in your area of expertise with scientific and societal impact;
- secure external research funding at national and international levels;
- contribute to and coordinate teaching in pharmacology at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels while leading curriculum innovation to enhance teaching and learning;
- supervise PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and mentor junior faculty members;
- strengthen collaborative links between pharmacology and related disciplines within the faculty and beyond, both with respect to research and education;
- contribute to academic leadership and departmental strategy through active participation in faculty and departmental committees;
- promote and lead by example in equality, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, and mentoring.
This position offers an approximate 50/50 balance between research and teaching. You will work in a collaborative academic environment with excellent research facilities and strong opportunities for interdisciplinary partnership.
You will be embedded in the Division of Pharmacology, part of the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), the renowned research centre of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
