The RoleWe are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Engagement to lead our external engagement, resource mobilisation, and communications efforts. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for positioning TdH NL as a trusted, visible, and mission-driven child rights organisation. You will oversee the development and implementation of integrated strategies for fundraising, brand, communications, and public engagement, ensuring that all external activities amplify our mission and impact. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with a strong track record in resource mobilisation, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive resource mobilisation strategy to enable sustainable growth and mission impact;
- Provide strategic leadership across fundraising, communications, retail engagement, and digital channels;
- Represent TdH NL externally with donors, partners, networks, and media to strengthen visibility and trust;
- Ensure all external engagement reflects TdH NL’s mission, values, and impact narrative;
- Set and deliver performance targets for income growth, supporter engagement, and brand visibility;
- Inspire and mobilise volunteers, shop networks, and the Winkelraad as part of a broader public engagement movement;
- Lead and develop the Engagement management team to drive innovation and cross-functional collaboration;
- Oversee brand management, marketing, and supporter engagement across all channels;
- Identify and develop new funding streams, partnerships, and sponsorships;
- Ensure strong collaboration between Engagement, Impact, and Operations departments;
- Ensure robust financial, risk, and contract management across the department;
- Participate in internal and external bodies and represent TdH NL as needed.
- Proven ability to translate mission impact into compelling engagement strategies and partnerships;
- Experience representing organisations at senior levels with donors, government, or media;
- Strong understanding of child rights, international development, or humanitarian contexts;
- Extensive experience in resource mobilisation and donor diversification;
- Proven success in securing multi-year funding from major donors and institutional partners;
- Strong communications and stakeholder management skills;
- Experience leading innovation in fundraising and engagement;
- Expertise in digital transformation and data-driven decision-making;
- Knowledge of emerging fundraising models, digital marketing, and audience analytics;
- Demonstrated capacity to lead organisational change and drive continuous improvement;
- Experience aligning fundraising, communications, and retail into a coherent strategy;
- Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
