Customs Broker

We are looking for a seasoned Customs Broker to join our new GQS Customs team in Drunen. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who has honed their expertise in customs operations and is ready to take ownership of complex customs processes. You will be at the forefront of ensuring compliance, optimizing procedures, and driving innovation within the customs domain.

Customs Operations

• Handle advanced import, export, and transit declarations, including periodic customs warehouse declarations.
• Advise on and optimize goods classifications and HS codes for compliance and efficiency.
• Serve as the liaison with customs authorities during audits and inspections.

Compliance & Regulation

• Monitor and implement changes in customs regulations to ensure compliance.
• Respond to inquiries, audits, or inspections by customs authorities.
• Identify risks and opportunities related to customs processes and regulations.

Process Improvement & Strategy

• Develop and implement advanced customs solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
• Conduct an in-depth analysis of customs processes to identify areas for optimization.
• Mentor and support junior team members, including onboarding and training.
• Monitor workloads and provide solutions to maintain efficiency during high‑pressure periods.
• Contribute to recruitment efforts as needed.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including warehouse teams, transporters, and clients.
• Address complex issues to ensure smooth customs operations and stakeholder satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Customs Broker, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
• Diploma in Customs Consultancy, Declarant, or a related field.
• In‑depth knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and export control legislation.
• Familiarity with FMCG is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP, WMS, TMS, Portbase, and DMS systems.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal.
