Job Description
As an Independent Working Chef II at Sweets & Spices, you will be responsible for preparing a wide range of authentic Indian dishes and traditional sweets. You will work with high-quality ingredients, possess in-depth knowledge of Indian spices, and have experience using a tandoor (clay oven). Your culinary duties will include preparing classic dishes such as curries, biryanis, tandoori specialties, various types of naan, as well as beloved desserts like rasgulla, gulab jamun, ras malai, jalebi, barfi, kheer, and gajjar halwa.
You will ensure the kitchen runs smoothly by monitoring the quality of dishes, complying with HACCP and hygiene standards, managing inventory, and placing orders in a timely manner. You'll work in an international team where both English and Dutch are spoken, and where collaboration, creativity, and craftsmanship are central values. This position is ideal for a passionate chef who can work independently and enjoys contributing to menu development and recipe creation.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Has completed a professional culinary education at MBO level 3 or 4.
- Has at least 1 year of experience in preparing Indian cuisine and traditional sweets.
- Works independently, takes initiative, and brings creativity to the kitchen.
- Is well-versed in HACCP standards and food safety practices.
- Communicates well in Dutch or English.
- Preferably resides within the EU and holds a valid EU residence (and work) permit for the Netherlands. (Note: This position is open only to candidates who do not require a visa or permit to live and work in the Netherlands.)
