Job Description
For Saxion we are looking for a Lecturer/Teacher for the Commercial Business Fashion/textiles orientated Master Innovative Textile Development Program for the Saxion University of Applied Sciences.

Content - Commercial Business Fashion/textiles orientated lecturer
The Fashion & Textile Technologies and Master Innovative Textile Development programs, together with the Sustainable and Functional Textiles research group, form the leading knowledge center for textiles in the Netherlands. In the knowledge center in Enschede, researchers, teachers and students work together on solutions for production, sustainability, and functional innovation of textiles. The Master in Innovative Textile Development, in total 1.5 year, trains you to become an expert in textile innovation and after graduation, you hold a Master of Science degree. The unique feature is a focus on sustainability and innovation in textiles, both technical textiles and textiles for clothing. With this, it provides a unique master programme in the Netherlands and Western Europe. It will give an excellent springboard to the international textile market.
In the first year of the master Innovative Textile Development program, students are introduced to the textile world in the broadest sense. They will learn to do research, write, visualize, and also explore the business/commercial side of the industry. Students are introduced to theoretical knowledge of textiles, communication ethics, business and marketing (communication) within the projects. They will work on projects, assignment given by the industry, such as developing a concept for a sustainable option in the production. A key principle throughout is that the student independently researches, designs, tests, and develops their textile solution, tailored to the needs of a client.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a lecturer for added value in the master's ITD program and coordinate a project with a commercial/business content and a theoretical textile line with the focus on sustainability. Furthermore, to coordinate a module about literature research, the set up and analyzation of the research. Additionally, providing individual lessons and supervising students on their final thesis. To be in a possession of master's degree is mandatory and a BKE certificate is a pre. The main area of expertise includes professional advice regarding improvements to relevant modules, and interpreting the project at the master's level. Furthermore, guiding and coaching our students during their studies is our core business. We utilize current knowledge in the field of management and business/commercial matters to translate and integrate current developments into education. To this end, the candidate will write study guides, develop lectures, and create teaching aids. Furthermore, the candidate will shape, implement, and optimize the curriculum of the Master's in ITD program. In doing so, we offer ample opportunity to make this position a success.
Tasks include:
• Preparing and delivering weekly consultations hours to groups of up to 20 students.
• Acting as a coach during the project, where students work in teams on case-based assignments.
• Assessing individual written exams.
• Evaluating a final group assessment.
• Monitoring students' progress to ensure they are supported in successfully completing the module.
• Providing substantiated evaluations and maintaining administrative records.
Expected Outcome
Deliver the project 'market exploration' in the first quarter, the module 'literature research', in the second quarter and the theoretical textile module about sustainability in the third quarter and assess final group evaluations and exams. Students receive regular, constructive feedback and are guided as needed to help them successfully complete the modules.
Required Skills and Experience
• The contractor has demonstrable expertise in the sustainable fashion/textile business.
• The contractor has extensive professional experience in the field textile based research.
• The contractor is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge.
• The contractor has strong coaching skills to support and inspire students during their academic journey and preparation for the industry, both personally and professionally.
• The contractor has completed a relevant higher education program (Bachelor's and Master's level).
• The contractor holds a Basic Qualification in Assessment (BKE) or is willing to obtain one (Saxion can facilitate this; costs are borne by the contractor).
Context
Current Saxion faculty members do not have the required expertise for this module. Saxion values maintaining a strong, up-to-date connection between education and the professional field, making the involvement of short-term external experts essential.
Communication and Reporting
The module has a designated coordinator within Saxion who serves as a sparring partner and first point of contact.
Hours and Schedule
These module comprises a total of 8 hours per week (1 day per week) for a group of up to 20 students over a period of 2 years, starting the first of July 2025. This includes time for preparation, teaching, and assessment.
Additional Information
NOTE: If a ZZP'er is supplied by a supplier then a Fee-only construction applies. The cost of this construction is € 2,- per hour worked for the supplier (maximum 1 year). After 1 year the supplier will be removed from the chain.
Screening:
