IPA Operations Engineer

Competitive Pricing Area, part of the FM> Tribe, seeks an enthusiastic Operations Engineer, with a solid Operations background in the Financial Markets domain. As an Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the ING Pricing Architecture Platform (IPA). IPA is a fully in-house developed platform that aims to centralize pricing and risk calculations for the Financial Markets (FM) department of ING, and beyond. Competitive Pricing is a dynamic and contemporary workplace for a diverse Operations Engineer who enjoys technical and functional challenges.

The Team:

It is a global platform, used in all ING FM locations, and is developed and supported by multiple squads in Amsterdam, Belgium, Bucharest, Singapore and India. You will work closely with your business users and other squads to provide end to end support to various customer journeys.

You will be working as a core member of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional squad whom primary driver is the customer perspective.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, support and run the IPA service consisting of multiple component.
  • Take care of incident management, and root cause analysis in case of unavailability and data quality issues. You communicate directly with users (Traders, Credit/Market Risk Managers) on this from Amsterdam, London, Brussels, New York and Singapore.
  • Implement and work with the latest tooling with a strong focus on performance, stability and security
  • Find opportunities to automate the testing of existing features, performance, and security as well as the automation of deployments, monitoring, and more.
  • This is a key responsibility of the Operations Engineers.
  • IT Risk & security controls need to be put in place and accurately documented, for this you will need to get familiar and keep up to date with the ING Information Security Management Policy.
  • Continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps
  • Collaborate with the other Dev and Ops engineers to define/refine/improve the technical architecture of the application
  • Through Agile/Scrum, collaborate with the other Ops engineers to bring live new sprint releases every 2-4 weeks to Acceptance and Production.

How to Succeed:

  • Experience: 5+ years of software engineering / operations experience
  • Advanced knowledge on CI/CD, and experience with Azure DevOps, Git, Maven, Python, Ansible, Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 or 8), Shell scripting
  • A customer focus, with the mindset to find and resolve root causes of incidents to structurally improve the customer experience.
  • IT Operations/Support experience, including Functional support to end users (such as Traders, Risk Managers, Collateral Managers but could be in another domain/field) combined with analytical skills  to identify root causes in workflows incidents (data, technical, functional).
  • Familiarity with Grafana, Graphite and tools for alerting like Prometheus
  • Good understanding of the ELK Stack and how to interact with it
  • Experience in Oracle 12c/19c with PL/SQL and working experience with JVM based applications
  • Experience or affinity with IT Risk & Security concepts
  • A good team player, cross functional, enjoys interacting with people of all levels in a multicultural environment
  • Proactive and attentive to other's needs

Education: Completed education at Bachelor/Master level

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Datasynapse, Apache Ignite (GridGain)
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with Docker and orchestration for it like Kubernetes or Openshift
