System Operations Analyst

Your energy
As an System Operations Analyst, you guarantee the safety of the energy network by adjusting an automated process. By executing your job well and anticipating flexible on customers' needs you take care of congestion management; you make sure 'the net' stays up and running, electricity is divided fair and more and more companies are able to join the net. You do this with a growing, young, international, highly educated team of professionals.

In the operations team, you actively monitor the power grid in a highly automated environment, currently for the medium voltage grid, in future also the low voltage grid. When something happens that threatens grid safety, you signalize, anticipate and intervene. On a daily base there are loads of notifications that need to be understood (related to smart products, regular checks and/or customer contracts). Each day the vary in number, type and urgency. You understand how products are related to different teams and make them work on those products, based on your 'real time' observations and experiences. Together with developers and experts, you look at the exceptions and conditions to guarantee grid safety.

This is how you work on the energy of today and tomorrow:

  • You are responsible for monitoring the network and you intervene when human action is required in an automated environment.
  • You analyze, coordinate and you are responsible for handling a great, every day changing variety of incidents on the energy network across the various teams and experts.
  • You perform root-cause analysis, identify improvements and ensure solutions are implemented.
  • You define alarms and other indicators on energy network dashboards to take timely action when needed.
  • You define exception situations, determine how to deal with them, you are responsible for agreements with other teams and you implement a migration strategy in the organization.

You will share your expertise within the System Operations department, an agile working department with a highly entpreneurial mindset. The team consists of colleagues from all parts of the world. English is therefore the official working language. This department works on the energy supply of the future and is constantly looking for new innovations that contribute to our services. Within our almost 20 multidisciplinary teams work professionals who are all ambitious.

You will be working in the Operations Team, whose goal is to guarantee system security on the smart solutions developed by System Operations, intended for the energy transition. Everyone is equal and has the same opportunities to develop. The location of System Operations is Arnhem, by hybrid working you can work location unbound. It is fine if you want to work from our other office locations in places like Apeldoorn, Amsterdam and Haarlem or just from home.

Your terms of employment

  • Up to € 4.274,51 (scale 9) or € 7.079,03 (scale 10) gross per month.
  • A permanent contract after 1 year.
  • A choice budget (IKB) of at least 18% of the annual salary. You can have this paid out or use it to buy extra leave days or parental leave, for example.
  • A sustainable employability budget (DIB) of €500 that you can use, for example, for career development, a sports subscription and/or health and safety-proof home office furniture.
  • an ABP pension of which Alliander pays 70%.
  • a fixed end-of-year bonus of 5.94%.

Your background
You are someone who oversees everything, you actively execute root cause analysis and like to solve problems. For doing this you collect and analyze data. You take the initiative and finish what you started. Do you see something that could be done better? Then you let the System Operations team know (pro) actively. You are critical of your surroundings and form your own opinion. Therefore, it is also important that you are analytically strong and have good communication skills. After all, you are in contact with many different teams within System Operations and other departments.

Also, you are the person with:

  • A background or degree in electrical engineering
  • Understanding of complex IT systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile/Scrum.
  • Knowledge of and love for the electricity network!
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Fast decision maker skills who likes an hectic environment
  • A smart task driven mind set, proactive, curious and solution driven attitude
