As a service engineer at Heat and Control B.V. you work on projects where, on the one hand, you set up installations from ‘A to Z’ and, on the other hand, provide service to customers with installations on site. You deal with a large diversity in customers, mainly in the processing industry. Heat and Control B.V. has customers all over the world, which means that you will be working abroad for a great part of the year; about 70% of the time. Not only do you work for the Dutch branch, but you may also be deployed by other branches worldwide. You are responsible for the whole process, from the physical placement of the machine to any testing and starting up of the line, whenever necessary. During this period you are in close contact with draftsmen, project engineers, operators. This in order to deliver the machine at its most optimum setting. On average, the set-up of an installation takes 2 to 4 weeks. At the end of the process you tune the installation together with the customer, based on the type of product that needs to be processed and the customer’s work processes. You deal with strict rules and requirements with regard to hygiene, BFC, IFS,safety etc. After the installation has been completed, you provide the customer who will be working with the machines with instructions and training on the job, so that the customer may take ownership of the project. These installation projects are alternated with service and maintenance jobs on already placed machines and installation and you deal with electronic, mechanical and software problems and malfunctions. Functie-eisen• Trade qualification with an electrical and/ or mechanical background• Good working knowledge of PLC namely Siemens and Allen Bradley• Ability to read electrical drawings. • Ability to supervise operators, and trades personal. • Good understanding of Microsoft Office products namely Word and Excel. • Ability to conduct training sessions• Assist the company and the customer in setting up preventative maintenance programs. • Conduct service visits to customer’s site to either repair equipment or return the equipment to it is optimal condition. • Ability to submit a detailed report at the end of the either the installation or the commissioning providing the performance data and recording any issues which did occur during the project. • Promote to the customer the company’s products and services to stimulate further sales. • Develop relationships with the customer to aid the flow of information to and from site. Personal characteristics• Ability to travel extensively both within Europe and overseas for extended periods of the time. • It does not matter where you live in Europe.• The ability to work unsupervised for extended periods of time. • Display a logical approach to trouble shooting issues. • Act with empathy towards the customer when dealing with issues onsite. • Maintain a high standard of work• Willingness to work outside of normal working hours in order to get the job done. • Ability to lead a team. • Willingness to keep informed of new equipment and technology within the food industry. • Comply with all health and safety, quality assurance, and all other company policies and procedures.
