Position Overview
The Quality Engineer - Infotainment & Connect, within the Complete Vehicle department at Porsche Engineering, is responsible for the analysis, validation and resolution of quality topics affecting in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity systems. As the technical expert, the position acts as a key interface between software, hardware, vehicle integration, user experience, Quality, Development, AfterSales and market organizations to ensure reliable and customer-focused solutions.
The scope covers the complete complaint lifecycle across both development and market operation: analysis of findings and complaints identified during the testing phase on prototype and pre-series vehicles, as well as analysis of complaints occurring on customer vehicles in the field. The role ensures that vehicles have relevant software and hardware baselines, complaints are reproducible and technically assessed, root causes and countermeasures are investigated, and results are documented and communicated to the responsible stakeholders.
Roles & responsibilities
- Own and coordinate complaint analysis for Infotainment & Connect topics across prototype testing and customer vehicles in the field, from initial intake through technical closure
- Monitor development and market quality using findings from Complete Vehicle activities, repetitive failures, technical support inputs, quality information systems, support tickets, repurchases and other complaint sources
- Analyze and validate multimedia, navigation, smartphone connectivity, voice control, connected services, backend communication and related vehicle interfaces
- Perform structured root cause analysis using vehicle diagnostics, measurement data and engineering tools, with expert knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, LIN, 5G and diagnostic protocols
- Reproduce complaints, define test scenarios, conduct validation tests and perform plausibility checks of vehicle and measurement-data analysis results
- Ensure prototype and analysis vehicles are operated with relevant software and hardware baselines so that findings and complaints reflect current released or approved versions
- Plan and perform software and hardware updates while considering the complete Infotainment & Connect architecture and dependencies to other vehicle systems
- Document anomalies, complaints, findings, test conditions, analysis results, corrective actions and validation status in a traceable and decision-ready format
- Collaborate with customer and OEM departments, Development, Quality, AfterSales, Technical Support, dealers and market representatives to accelerate root-cause identification, countermeasure development and validation
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Four-year Engineering or technical-based degree in automotive sciences, electrical engineering, computer science or comparable technologies
- Five+ years of relevant work experience in automotive technologies, vehicle development, testing, diagnostics, quality engineering or field analysis
- Expert knowledge of Infotainment & Connect systems and their interaction with vehicle networks, software, hardware, backend services and user interfaces
- Strong knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, LIN and automotive diagnostic protocols
- Experience with vehicle diagnostics, data acquisition, engineering analysis and structured root cause methods
- Experience analyzing both development-stage findings on prototype vehicles and complaints on customer vehicles in the field
- Advanced analytical skills, keen attention to detail and the ability to independently drive complex technical topics to documented closure
- Ability to communicate technical results clearly and work effectively in a cross-functional, international and customer-facing environment
Preferred qualifications include:
- Graduate Degree in Automotive or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
- German language capability is a plus
- Experience with Porsche proprietary testing systems and methodologies is a plus, such as PIDT, PUDiS, PPN, FAZIT and Cluu; experience with CANape and CANoe is beneficial
- Automotive AfterSales, dealer or market-quality experience is a plus; ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, adaptable, process oriented and collaborative
Physical requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 - 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 - 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)
- This job operates in an automotive workshop and office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, automotive parts at operational temperature and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, move, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift.
