Purpose Of the Role
To support the efficient and cost-effective operation of European export activities by responding to customer requirements and meeting network standards. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, reliable service while maximising profitability through effective solutions to groupage and export logistics needs.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming and assisting international drivers upon arrival.
- Processing collection orders and assigning them to subcontracted drivers.
- Arranging and managing ferry and Channel Tunnel bookings.
- Coordinating and overseeing EDI takeover activities.
- Preparing and dispatching linehaul, round-trip vehicles, and export trailers.
- Routing consignments efficiently to maximise trailer utilisation and network performance.
- Processing customs envelopes and electronically filing EAD and T1 documentation within the archive system.
- Carrying out dangerous goods compatibility checks to ensure compliance and safe transportation.
- Monitoring customer export documentation to ensure customs compliance, resolving issues where required to support the timely dispatch of exports.
- Completing administrative tasks, including entering data into Government Gateway systems (GMR, ELO, and ENS) and updating customs references on processed shipments.
- Maintaining effective communication with internal departments, including Customer Service, Warehouse, Transport, Customs, and Sales teams, as well as UK and European branch offices.
- Completing end-of-day operational and administrative routines to ensure all activities are accurately finalised and recorded.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A minimum of two years’ experience in European road freight operations
- Strong knowledge of European geography
- Solid commercial awareness
- Proficiency in standard computer applications
- The ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing operational demands
- Customs knowledge (desirable)
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong multi-tasking and organisational skills
