Position overview
The Test Team is taking responsibility for testing market specific Infotainment and Connect systems and services in North America by covering test activities along the development process of vehicle models and services. Within this Team, the Technician Test-Infrastructure Infotainment & Connect ensures timely resolution for all topics belonging to their field of test infrastructure. The Technician Test-Infrastructure Infotainment & Connect is also responsible to Porsche Engineering Services US as the technical expert for their respective technical project as it pertains to all current and upcoming Porsche models within the market. This responsibility necessitates staying abreast of the latest technology in development and validation within Porsche AG.
Roles & responsibilities
- Provide ready-to-use test infrastructure in-time by setting-up, updating and maintaining test infrastructure (e.g. Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, test benches, test cars) in alignment and collaboration with the Coordinator Test-Infrastructure Infotainment & Connect based on Porsche test plans
- Commissioning of HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) systems and test benches based on wiring layout scheme, PIN definition, bus topology, infrastructure design as well as test data configuration on backend systems
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, Software flashing and coding utilizing tools and software such Vector CANape, CANoe and other data acquisition means
- Working closely with international test infrastructure, integration and commissioning teams in other locations as well as Porsche testing teams, function development teams, suppliers, backend development teams to share project information, improve processes and enhance know-how exchange
- Support test drive teams, endurance test teams, and quality engineering teams with support for pressing and frequent topics
- Analysis of requirement documents and technical specification to continuously improve and adapt Test Infrastructure
- Assist with test infrastructure support in North America through supporting activities such as test tours and other validation trials, which may include extended travel.
- Record test infrastructure software and hardware information in given systems, e. G. Atlassian Jira and Confluence
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
- Three years Engineering or technical-based degree in automotive related sciences or technologies
- Two years of work experience in fields related to automotive technologies, including internships during studies
- Experience with and knowledge of automotive systems
- Experience with associated diagnostic tools to analyze problems in vehicles
- Experience of setting-up/commissioning of HiL systems and test benches
- Good knowledge of vehicle bus systems (CAN, OABR, Flexray…) and communication protocols
- Good analytical skills and keen attention to detail
Preferred qualifications include:
- Graduate Degree in Engineering
- Experience of vehicle onboard diagnosis (OBD/DoIP) and flashing and coding of ECU
- Good knowledge of vehicle topology, experience with residual bus simulation could help
- Understanding of SIM card provisioning process and general mobile network operation
- Prior experience with the German language and culture considered as a plus
- Ideal candidates are tenacious, persistent, well-organized, flexible to adapt to various forms of challenges, process oriented and work well within a group
- ISTQB certifications are beneficial
Percentage of required travel: <15% (domestic business trips, Europe)
Schedule/Shift: 5:30,6:00am - afternoon
Physical requirements
- Comfortable with physical exertion for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Comfortable standing and walking for 3 – 5 hour intervals
- Ability to travel long distances in aircraft or via automobile (5+ hours)

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. However, it is important to note that at Porsche compensation range is dependent on geographic location. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skillset.
Porsche reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness.
