How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Head of Lighting & Technical Production

Location: Hybrid – Home, London, Milton Keynes & various site locations

    Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 basic + bonus (OTE £80,000 – £90,000+)

    About Us

Limited Edition Event Design is the UK’s leading technical production and design house for red-carpet events. From world film premieres and after-show parties to experiential activations, photoshoots, and press conferences — we deliver cutting-edge design and technical solutions across the entertainment and events industry.

In the past year alone, we’ve designed, managed, and installed the technical production for Mission Impossible, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Indiana Jones, Napoleon, Wonka, Wish, Ferrari, F1, Dune 2, Wicked, Superman, Roblox & Beetlejuice. We’ve also supported world-class awards ceremonies including BAFTA, The London Fashion Awards, and The Olivier Awards.

With over 160 events a year, we’re a fast-paced, creative, and highly collaborative production house.

    The Role

We’re looking for a dynamic and hands-on Head of Lighting & Technical Production to lead from the front — overseeing projects from conception to completion.

Working under the guidance of our Creative Director, you’ll bring deep technical expertise, creative flair, and exceptional leadership skills to manage lighting design, technical production, rigging design (Layher & truss), power systems, and logistics across a wide range of high-profile events.

This is a hybrid role, split between working from home, our Milton Keynes office, and onsite delivery in London and across the UK. Flexibility is key — our projects range from intimate installs to major multi-truck productions involving rigging, lighting, LED screens, power, and staging.

    Key Responsibilities

No two weeks are ever the same — but you’ll typically:

    • Attend client and production meetings (in person and via Zoom) to define technical requirements and schedules.
    • Conduct detailed site surveys and create accurate 2D/3D drawings in Vectorworks.
    • Design lighting, rigging, LED screens, and staging layouts, integrating all technical elements cohesively.
    • Produce detailed kit specifications, power distribution systems along with DMX / Networking system design.
    • Act as Senior Project Manager onsite, leading load-ins/outs, crew management, client liaison, and ensuring H&S compliance.
    • Program and operate lighting desks (Chamsys, Avolites, etc.) and occasionally basic video/sound systems.
    • Research and integrate new technologies and innovations into live projects.
    • Manage event budgets, ensuring accurate costings and profitability.
    • Be part of the Limited Edition family — ready to jump in and help wherever needed.

    About You

You’ll be an experienced and versatile technical production professional with:

    • Extensive experience in lighting design, specification & installation.
    • Broad technical knowledge including LED screens, staging, rigging, Layher systems, and scenic elements.
    • Temporary power design expertise (BS7909 certification highly advantageous).
    • Proficiency in Vectorworks (2D & 3D).
    • Competence with lighting control systems (Chamsys, Avolites).
    • Powered access (IPAF) and other relevant training.
    • Proven experience leading large teams and delivering large-scale live events.
    • A proactive, positive, and solution-driven attitude.

    What We Offer

Join a small, tight-knit team supported by an incredible network of top-tier freelancers. You’ll work alongside some of the most creative minds in the industry, with opportunities to shape iconic events seen around the world.

    Benefits include:

    • Private healthcare (WPA PPP, post qualifying period)
    • Company pension scheme
    • 20 days annual leave (rising to 25 with service)
    • Annual performance-related bonus
    • Continuous training & certification (IPAF, First Aid, CAD, etc.)
    • Company laptop provided

    💰 Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 basic + discretionary bonus (OTE £75,000 – £90,000+)

    Next Steps

First-round interviews will be held via Zoom, with final interviews in person.

Ideally, you’ll be available to start within four weeks of offer.
