How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Principal Electrical Engineer

    Location - London

    Salary - Around £75,000+

An independent MEP and sustainability consultancy with multiple offices is looking to appoint a Principal Electrical Engineer to strengthen their electrical team in London.

The business has grown significantly over recent years and now operates with a combined team of around 40 engineers across both offices, working from a single shared project list and delegating across teams based on skillset. Their work spans a strong portfolio of education, science and research, and decarbonisation projects - sectors they are selective about and genuinely passionate in. Net zero is central to the practice's identity, not just a service line.

With further expansion planned, this is a well-timed opportunity to join a business that is ambitious, growing, and deeply committed to doing things differently from traditional consultancy.

    The Role

The London office is looking to bring in an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer who can take ownership of design delivery across a varied project portfolio. You will work closely with Mechanical and Sustainability colleagues in a collaborative environment with direct access to director-level support.

    Responsibilities will include:

Leading electrical design across a range of building services projects from early concept through to completion
Producing and reviewing technical deliverables including drawings, specifications, and calculations
Coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the electrical team
Contributing to the practice's low-carbon and net zero design approach across all projectsAbout You

Demonstrable experience at Principal or Senior Electrical Engineer level within a building services consultancy
Strong technical grounding across LV power distribution, lighting design, fire alarms, and general building services electrical systems
Experience within education, science and research, or similarly complex sectors is advantageous
Proficiency in relevant design tools - Amtech, Dialux, and Revit/BIM experience beneficial
Chartered or working towards chartership with IET or CIBSE
A collaborative approach and genuine alignment with a sustainability-led, people-first cultureThe Business

Independent MEP and sustainability consultancy operating across the South West
Strong, selective project pipeline across education, science and research, and decarbonisation
Single shared project list across both offices - genuine integration, not siloed teams
9-day fortnight, 8% employer pension, EV salary sacrifice scheme
    Share options currently being introduced
Lifestyle benefits including GP appointments, cinema discounts and more
Monthly one-to-ones focused on development, wellbeing, and workload
    Flexible and hybrid working supported
Open-door culture with direct access to all three founding directorsThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer looking to join a practice that has built something meaningfully different - where the work is technically engaging, the culture is intentional, and the growth trajectory is real.
