How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Quantity Surveyor
    Water & Environment
    Coventry
    £50,000 - £65,000

    You'll be working at the heart of major capital programmes for water companies and the Environment Agency with a Leading Global Consultancy. You will have a clear pathway into the defence and nuclear sectors, where you go from here is limited only by your ambition.

    What You'll Be Doing

    You'll sit client-side on high-value NEC3/4 ECC contracts (Options A, C & E), meaning real influence, real decisions, and real accountability. Day to day, you'll:

    Drive budget control, cost forecasting, payment valuations, and defined cost determination
    Build and maintain the kind of commercial records that win disputes before they escalate
    Lead pre-contract activity - feasibility studies, cost planning, tender preparation and evaluation
    Manage post-contract compliance, negotiate variations, and steer claims to resolution
    Close out final accounts with precision and professionalism
    Contribute directly to bid development and proposal strategy alongside senior leadershipWhat You Bring

    A degree in Quantity Surveying (Bachelor's or Master's)
    Progress toward RICS chartership - or the drive to get there with full support behind you
    Solid NEC3/4 command across Options A, C and E, plus working knowledge of CDM regulations
    A background in water, environment, defence, or nuclear - ECI/ESI experience in Design & Build is a serious advantage
    The confidence to mentor junior team members and, ideally, some line management experience
    A valid CSCS card (Water Hygiene Card preferred), and the right to work in the UK
