About the team

Within the Engineering cluster the Applications Engineering department is responsible for the development of combat and information management systems for navy ships, integration with sensor- and weapon systems as well as the development of sensor processing applications. These complex systems contain advanced solutions for information processing, information management and the user interaction with both sensor- and weapon systems. Our product offers essential support for missions varying from anti-piracy to ballistic missile defense.

About the job

As Group Manager Software you will set up and manage one of the product development teams in the department. Such a team is responsible for the development and test of a set of related software products that are used in our systems. Teams are in general comprised of 20-30 software and/or test engineers and work according the agile/scrum methodology.

Managers within Thales are key in the support, leading and guidance of our main assets: our people. Strategies are being developed top down and bottom-up; the manager plays a role to connect, align and explain. As manager you are expected to build an effective team. You will be held responsible for the team meeting development project objectives on customer value, quality, time and budget. You will ensure a sustainable future for the team, by helping people develop their hard and soft skills.

You will be part of the Management Team of the department Applications Engineering. Together with the other managers you will be responsible for the overall department results. You will contribute to and play an important part in setting up and executing our strategic plans and initiate process improvements.

About you

For our team we are looking for someone with a positive outlook. You combine your strong analytical qualities with creativity and pragmatism. In addition, you are a committed colleague who wants results. If you have a passion for people management and the eagerness to ensure project commitments are met, then you are the person we need.

We are looking for a person who:

Has some years of management experience in an engineering environment Excels in self-reflection, a person who has the ability to build an effective team and develop people. Can balance active listening with the capability to convince people towards a common goal. Has the drive to help our projects succeed. Is analytically and verbally able to communicate with various stakeholders in the organization. He/she has political savvy to deal with different interests in the organization. Has a BSC or MSC degree, preferably in Software Engineering. Communicates efficiently in English, both verbally and written.
