Sr. Payments Partnerships Manager

This role of Sr. Partnerships Manager is responsible for centrally managing relationships with Payment Service Providers, with the aim of creating a scalable and resilient payments ecosystem in accordance with the Payments as a Service roadmap. This involves:

  • Designing, developing and delivering payment solutions and systems that support the needs of Booking.com across all its eCommerce business channels. This person will be required to have detailed knowledge of business processes as well as trending and emerging payments solutions related to eCommerce payments.
  • Key deliveries will include acting as a subject matter expert around the introduction and operational management of new payment methods, working with internal technical teams to define and implement Booking.com payment strategies whilst also providing input into Booking.com existing payments processes.

B.Responsible

  • Management of Payment Service Providers

    • Document and understand the capabilities of third party payments service providers, and regularly benchmark PSPs against the market;
    • Analyze new and emerging technologies and drive the organizational shifts to implement new technologies/payment methods as appropriate;
    • Monitoring Payments / PSP performance by creating central metrics for analysis and reporting
    • Make informed recommendations to the business about the capabilities of PSPs relative to planned targets per the Payments roadmap;
    • Oversee all contract negotiations, quarterly benchmarking reviews, PSP integrations and transitions/dispositions;
    • Proactively manage PSP product delivery (including undertaking the appropriate activities to ensure service delivery) and all contractual terms and conditions.
  • Relationship Management

    • Serve as the primary liaison with regards to payment solutions across other functional teams within Finance, Technology and Product;
    • Define issue-escalation processes with PSPs and act as focal point in event of such cases.
  • Performance Management

    • Collect and synthesize internal feedback for the evaluation of PSPs;
    • Ensure service levels are met at the highest quality from each vendor by holding quarterly reviews where performance is rigorously assessed, with the aim of driving down price, staying competitive and working with best in class providers;
    • Provide governance and policy concepts related to Payments. Use your experience to create processes and policies and establish governance infrastructures.
  • Project Management

    • Participate and help drive cross-functional delivery of large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents;
    • Collaborate with the technical and business teams to ensure alignment on the overall roadmap for B2C (and potentially B2B) activities;
    • Effectively resolve problems and roadblocks as they occur, consistently following through on details while driving innovation as well as issue resolution; identifies risks related to payments’ architecture and drives their mitigation.

B.Skilled:

  • 5-8+ years direct experience in the payments industry, preferably with a payment service provider
  • Extensive experience and familiarity with payment instruments such as ACH / Funds Transfers, Credit/Debit Cards (including Chargebacks), alternative payment methods and their rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive an outcome to completion
  • Ability to manage multiple competing stakeholder demands and personalities in a constructive manner - balancing tenacity to drive for business objectives and relationship management
  • Excellent written and oral communication (English)
  • Broad knowledge of micro and macroeconomic factors with the ability to translate these into risk-based decisions
