To accelerate on adding value with our social media activities the Center of Expertise Communications of ING Netherlands is looking for an experienced:

Social Media Strategist

For our Social Media Team we are looking for an experienced and creative Social Media Strategist. In this role you will set out creative and media strategy and oversee the paid and organic performances of our social media content across various channels. Based on the right audience and creative, you constantly work on maximizing the impact of our campaigns and content on the brand ING as well as our Business priorities. You will work in close cooperation with various business squads, creative & media agencies and partners like Facebook and Google. You will report to a wide range of internal stakeholders. Your work is based on a long term vision, in which ING stays the best in class in Social Media Marketing.

Your responsibilities

You will work in one of our agile squad teams that work in sprints to deliver marketing communication campaigns, covering a variety of media channels including TV, Outdoor, Social Media and soforth. You, as a Social Media expert, will make sure that we maximize the effectiveness of our social media activities on both Brand and Business KPI’s. As consumer behavior is shifting towards mobile devices, we are looking for a creative strategist that has proven understanding of how to connect with our target audience using these new (communication) channels. In this role you are not only working on ING’s social media strategy, you will have the opportunity to shape our brand across any mobile touch-point.

  • Translate our brand strategy and positioning into social media / content campaigns.
  • Write creative and media briefings for agencies. Provide them with valuable input and feedback in order to maximize output.
  • Challenge our agencies on the role of mobile in their strategies and helping other colleagues to develop these skills as well.
  • Integrate new (social) media channels into our current communications. You are one of the safeguards to make sure that we stay relevant and up to date for and with our customers.
  • Monitor day-to-day management of campaign set-up, pacing and optimization with media & creative agencies, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and various other social media vendors.
  • Provide feedback to internal stakeholders on social media marketing results and opportunities.
  • Define and launch A/B experiments to assess the effectiveness of social media advertising spend.
  • Advice on future tooling, help shape the roadmap of social media marketing.
  • Work closely with different stakeholders to optimize campaigns towards defined KPIs.

  • Bachelor or Master degree in marketing or other relevant degree
  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience as a Social Media focused Marketeer or Creative Advertising professional.
    • Experience in an Advertising- and/or Social Media agency is preferred
  • Proven experience in digital / mobile marketing communications
  • Extensive knowledge of the global (social) media landscape
  • Data driven attitude: true data curiosity and the ability to derive new insights
  • Strong multitasking, accuracy and prioritizing skills in fast paced environment
  • Excellent level in Dutch and English both spoken and written
  • Creative approach to problem solving; always looking for improvements
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing social media marketing campaigns and a successful track record to deliver ROI targets
  • Track record in handling large accounts & campaigns on desktop, mobile and video
  • Understanding of technical implications of measurement methodologies for campaign trafficking and set-up

The Center of Expertise Communications

The Center of Expertise (CoE) Communications is a cross-border organisation with over 150 people. The purpose of the CoE is to maximize the engagement of all stakeholders to become a true love brand. The Center of Expertise is organised in four Areas:

  • Internal & External Communications
  • Branding, Advertising & Sponsoring
  • Media Relations & Stakeholder Management
  • Sustainability

The Area Brand Experience, Advertising & Sponsoring

The Area covers all branding, advertising & sponsoring activities and strategy in Belgium and the Netherlands. The Area is headed by an Area Lead that is end-to-end responsible for Branding, Advertising & Sponsoring in both countries and reports to the overall CoE-Lead.

Within the Advertising area, the Social Media Strategist will report to the Expert Lead Social Media.
