This is a unique opportunity to further grow your career as the manager of the Electronics department within the Mechatronic Development Cluster of the BU Image Guided Therapy Systems.

As department manager you are responsible for the talent management, way of working and output for the Electronics department. With your team, stakeholders and suppliers you will co-manage a portfolio of electronic components, such as power electronics, cabling and hardware infrastructure. You will take ownership of the electronic system design in IGT systems related to IEC60601 (EMC, Power Electronics, basic safety). As a member of the leadership team of the Mechatronics Development Cluster you are also co-responsible for the long-term strategy of the cluster.

Next to your departmental role, you will also be responsible for the EMC procedures as process owner and for the contracts of our EMC labs.

Responsibilities

You lead and manage the team responsible for delivering products and components within the allocated budget, on time and with the highest level of quality. The work is based on a product and technology roadmap, covering studies, new product introductions (both internal and OEM) and product maintenance activities. Key areas of responsibility:

  • Leads a department of approximately 25 engineers located in Best
  • Defines group composition including required competencies, resources and skills
  • Ensures successful introduction and sustaining of high quality, manufacturable, serviceable, and reliable products
  • Drives the technology roadmap of the related products and components
  • Defines and executes process improvement activities
  • Manages relationships with external stakeholders like suppliers and customers, and internal stakeholders like Innovation, Operations, Customer Service, Procurement and Marketing
  • Drives together with Purchasing and Operations the sourcing strategy including make-buy decisions, supplier selection, and contract management
  • Acts as R&D’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for a set of suppliers within the electronics domain. You take care for the (long-term) relationship with these suppliers by jointly preparing the Business Management Review with the purchasing department.

You are a part of

the Mechatronics Development Cluster of the Business Unit IGT Systems within Philips. This Business Unit is responsible for marketing, development and manufacturing of X-ray systems in the area of cardiac or vascular medical diagnosis and intervention (e.g. balloon angioplasty and stent procedures). The Mechatronics Development Cluster develops the mechatronics products for the x-ray systems. Examples for these products are our stands, tables, monitoring ceilings, etc.

Customers are interventional specialists, in the cardiology and radiology domain operating in a wide variety of hospitals across the globe.

As team member you participate in the Management team of the MDC cluster and lead a department of approximately twenty high educated (Bachelor, Master, PhD) electrical designers and engineers.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master degree in electrical engineering or electronics
  • Several years’ experience in Group leading or Project Management.
  • Several years’ experience in Hardware development, testing, and quality assurance is a plus
  • Experience in the design and implementation of systems and experience in electrical subjects such as power electronics, EMC, thermal design, reliability of at least 6 years.
  • Knowledge and understanding of other disciplines (software, mechanics) with which co-operation takes place.
  • Knowledge and experience of international standards (e.g. FDA regulatory, IEC60950, IEC60601, ISO13485, ISO14971…)
  • Abstract, analytical and creative thinker with helicopter view. You drive (out-of-the-box) solutions to complex problems.
  • Is aware of the role of change management. Is capable to introduce new technologies, products, etc. after alignment with relevant stakeholders.
  • Is able to lead, motivate and inspire a team of designers and engineers. Drives the team’s deliverables on time with the right quality.
  • Is communicative, a good listener, and is able to give good presentations to various levels in the organization.
  • Has an improvement attitude, is a leader by leading through example.
  • Organizational talent and ready to take responsibility
  • Communicative in all layers of the organization, orally and in writing.
