Foods R&D Specification and Food Labelling Technologist


Location: The Netherlands, Wageningen – Global Foods Innovation Centre.

Unilever R&D opened brand-new Global Foods Innovation Centre in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Here we create critical mass in expertise areas to ensure that the technologies ultimately bring benefit-led, breakthrough innovations to the markets. The site will became innovation ecosystems to leverage the knowledge and expertise of external partners.

For the R&D team in Wageningen we are looking for Specification and Food Labelling Technologist. The job holder will be primary focusing on creating Foods Europe product specifications, including labelling data and support speed to market and our e-commerce agenda.


  • Based on the information provided by Foods technologists, suppliers third party and other relevant sources, create and maintain high quality product specifications including labelling. Maintain respective R&D data in Unilever IT systems. Make the specification compliant to European Food Law. Verify against regulatory rules, quality standards and model specs. Verify discrepancies in the specifications with product developers, supply chain, project teams and ingredient experts.
  • Assures full consistency of respective product and labelling data in Unilever IT systems.
  • Drive simplification of product specification and labelling tasks to together with Data and Formulation teams.
  • Assures product and labelling specifications pass approval step in Unilever digital tools.
  • Manage timing of own tasks based on input from project teams, assures tasks are delivered on timely manner. Be pro-active project team member, communicates project status and issues with project teams.


  • Education: MSc degree in Food Technology, Food Law, Commodity Science, Biotechnology or similar relevant area.
  • Experience: European food law and labelling. Management of technical documentation for foods products.
  • Languages: Very good English (speaking and writing).
  • Excellent computer literacy (Excel). Favorable knowledge about management of databases, Power BI.
  • Very good communication skills, ability to work in multifunctional and multicultural team.
