Senior Cloud Solution Architect

What you will do
This role sits within the Cloud Solutions Team (CST) within Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS).  CIS is tasked with client advisory services, cloud project engagements and cloud service delivery.  The CST team are part of the Global business unit with responsibility to advise, support and develop across the regional business units.

The Cloud Solutions Architect is key in helping enable our customers on their journey to leverage cloud.  In this role, the Cloud Solution Architect engages closely with clients, partners and other business units to develop and execute innovative and competitive solutions for new and existing clients, leveraging a wealth of previous experience in deploying cloud.

You’ll work as part of a pre-sales team, taking customers through the full journey from initial engagement, through proposal stage and potentially supporting clients during implementation.  For cloud only deals, you may be the only Solutions Architect aligned to the deal, however for multi-platform deals, you’ll likely work as part of a team of Solution Architects.  From a technology perspective, your key focuses will be on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure, as well as help clients understand the benefits of the Cloud Platform.

What you bring
You’ll have recent experience working for a technology service provider or cloud provider in a pre-sales solutioning role designing solutions for Cloud. You’ll be used to working as part of a team on the end to end sales cycle, from the early stages of the engagement where you’re helping answer Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP) through customer presentations and workshops and then producing the required client artefacts, such as high-level design documents. Whilst you’ll understand the solution from a technical perspective, you’ve also got a point of view on the commercial and legal aspects of the solution, helping ensure solutions are cost effective and in line with any compliance and legal requirements.

From a technology perspective, you’ll have deep expertise in either AWS or Azure, with an awareness of the other clouds in the market (Google, Alibaba, etc.) You should be able to demonstrate this expertise through certification to at least architect level in Azure (70-534 or 70-535) or AWS Certified Solutions Architect to Professional level.  It would also be advantageous to bring some private cloud experience (either VMWare or Hyper-V) and some legacy operating system experience (either Windows or Linux) along with any associated certifications as many solutions will operate in a hybrid configuration, for example VCP, MCSE/MCSA, RHCSA, etc. Ideally you will have had exposure to DevOps and understand how customers are using it to deploy both infrastructure and code to the Cloud.

You will have worked on solutions that have service management components or will have worked in an ITIL based organisation. You have a broad understanding of the various ITIL components, such as change, incident, problem, capacity, etc. and are comfortable working on solutions that have a service integration component (although you’ll not be required to solution any service integration)

You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication. You’ll be able to demonstrate experience working in diverse, globally distributed teams as well as being able to effectively influence senior (C-level) stakeholders in customers. You’ll be able to work with and influence one on one, as well as able to lead solutioning workshops where necessary.
