In this role, you have the opportunity to define and develop new successful propositions and new attractive features in areas like medical imaging, personal care, patient monitoring or similar applications, based on your (embedded) software development, algorithm design, computer vision analysis and machine learning capabilities.
You are responsible for
Defining the scope and the problem domain in a streamlined and structured way: you define the problem together with partners and identify key issues;
Delivering a consolidated architecture: you build well-defined building blocks/system options & scenarios; you choose the efficient architecture, you demonstrate the technology and you contribute to and/or drive (technology) roadmaps and the establishment of control points (IP);
Ensuring good and up to date documentation of the architecture and implementation thereof; using methods & tools for a structured approach;
Acting within the total context, (business, organization, roadmaps, external world, etc.): working towards convergence; capturing / re-use of prior art and in- and external trends;
Keeping abreast of developments in your field through study of the literature, technical contacts and technology exploration;
Co-creating our technology roadmap and vision and co-defining our (long-term) strategy.

The Digital Architecture and Systems department, which focuses on the architecture and technologies that enable Philips products, like connectivity and high-performance computing. The department consists of scientists, architects and development engineers working closely together with application specialists, other scientists and engineers in multidisciplinary teams in a highly innovative, exciting and inspiring environment.
To succeed as Senior Scientist Compute Architectures, you should have the following skills and experience
An academic way of thinking and preferably a master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a comparable subject;
Experience in creating and optimizing high performance Algorithms and their implementation in mobile, computer or in the cloud.
Hardware and Software Optimization knowledge of CPU/GPU/DSP Architectures
Knowledge on Artificial Intelligence neural networks and their implementation
Extensive experience with working in mathematical software environments like Python, C/C++/Python, profilers, ability to review and steer development process
Confirmed experience in real-time and resource constraint system design with a focus on machine learning, data science and signal processing;
A pragmatic approach in doing a fast and effective evaluation of technologies and concepts by crafting prototypes;
Drive architectures and software engineering for prototypes and products;
Other subject areas, like mechanics/mechatronics, optics, sensors, various process technologies, biology;
Interest in Healthcare and/or personal care applications;
Crafting multidisciplinary teams and maintaining close interaction with partners at all levels.
