Van Oord Offshore Wind’s Customer Support Department (CSD) is solving the most unexpected challenges in offshore wind day after day. We are experts in ad-hoc operations, contractual relationship management and general problem solving.
The CSD is responsible for managing the Defects Notification Period (DNP) of all of Van Oord’s offshore wind farms.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile project engineer to join our ever-growing team.
In your role, you will be the technical lead for the defects related mainly to Foundations. In this regard, strong operational thinking is required and knowledge of cathodic protection and coating systems is appreciated.
You must also be willing and able to be involved in every phase of planning and execution. This means that you evaluate the contractual responsibility (with assistance), communicate with the client and relevant subcontractors regarding the technical solution and ensure that it is implemented offshore. Next to this, you keep relevant action and document registers up to date and always maintain a good overview of the status of the notified defects for your scope of work.
Ensures that work is carried out in accordance with the Van Oord Management System as well as CSD standard processes and other relevant process as may be applicable
Manage defect notifications received from the client and evaluate contractual responsibility (with assistance from management/ legal counsel)
Develop technical solutions to defects together with relevant parties
Ensure technical methodology (method statement/ risk assessment) is prepared and approved before start of repair work
Plan (together with relevant parties) the offshore repair work (defect remedy) including availability of parts, personnel and offshore equipment (vessels)
Maintain the relevant action and document registers and always maintain a good overview of the status of the notified defects for your scope of work
Ensure proper close-out reporting is prepared and approved by all parties
Education in mechanical or civil engineering or similar
Demonstratable operational experience preferably in the offshore wind sector (min 2 years’ experience)
Strong communication skills (English) with ability to navigate difficult discussions
Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems
Demonstratable creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of cathodic protection systems, coating systems, bolting technology (including Ultrasonic Tension Measurements) is appreciated
Competency in Microsoft Office 365 products (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
Has the ability to be flexible and easily deal with changes in planning. Has a good resilience to stress
