As Compliance Advisor you can make a difference by guiding and challenging the Structure Lending Business Lines (“the business”) in their responsibilities and manage compliance risks for the region.
Making a difference
The Wholesale activities can be complex and demanding and you will have a broad range of responsibilities working with the business to mitigate compliance risk, help maintain and develop a strong compliance culture and manage/implement regulatory reform.
Your scope of the business relates to Structured Lending which includes Value Chain Finance (VCF), Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF) and Project Finance (PF).
All three business lines are, next to the European activities, globally managed. After the merge, your focus will be on the Europe & Africa activities.
Support and challenge the business in taking responsibility to become and remain compliant with regards to the external and internal rules and regulations.
Acting as 1st point of contact towards the business advising on various compliance risk themes, and if needed consult with theme experts within Compliance and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide timely and effective compliance advice in relation to the daily operations of the business, including clients and their respective transactions.
Actively participate and challenge the business in (SIRA) risk assessments.
Initiate, develop and provide awareness training on the various themes to the business and facilitate change.
The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach with a strong communication skill and focus on adherence to internal policies and external regulations.

Academic background preferably in Finance, Economics, Law or Business Administration.
At least 3-5 years of experience in a Financial Institution (preferably within a wholesale banking environment) or Financial Authority or as consultant.
Preferably working experience in and/or affinity with the respective business lines and/or international wholesale banking.
Preferably experience with advising on Financial Economic Crime related topics.
Able to provide the business pro-actively with clear advice and able to act as sparring partner.
Knowledge of or familiarity with relevant (international) financial rules and regulations and affinity with compliance / risk management and integrity issues.
Combines analytic and professional judgement skills with tact and organization sensitivity.
Able to multitask on several assignments at the same time.
