Product Safety Engineer

Product (Expert) Functional Safety Engineer

What You'll Do
  • Deliver product safety services to engineering teams to create a product that achieves safety according to state of the art
  • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering teams and lead on safety analysis (FMEA, DFA, STPA, Misuse Analysis, FTA)
  • Safety engineering (requirements, concept creation and maintenance, V&V)
  • Safety confirmation measures and KPI monitoring
  • Participate in product functional safety claim resolution and provide safety support in terms of technical issue remediation, also after deployment into the field
  • Contribute to the development of safety policies, standards, guidelines, tools and support the implementation of these processes and tools for the whole organization
What you’ll need
  • PhD, Master's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in an engineering subject area such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years work experience in functional safety
  • Experience with modern technology stacks and development practices
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting hazard analysis and risk assessment engagements, safety requirements elicitation, and safety reviews
  • Solid understanding of safety design principles and commonly used safety architectures
  • In-depth knowledge of existing industry safety standards and best practices (i.e., ISO 26262, ISO 21448, etc.)
  • Knowledge and proven success of the safety analysis techniques (e.g. FMEA, FTA, DFA, STPA, Misuse Analysis, HAZOP)
  • Requirement engineering skills
  • Strong Engineering mindset
  • Ability to effectively communicate risk and complex safety problems to engineering teams and business stakeholders
  • Thirst for knowledge and a drive to stay current
  • Think out of box, knowledge or interest in research of state-of-the art in safety
  • Experience in an agile development life cycle
  • Experience with release management, V&V, configuration management
What’s nice to have
  • Direct experience in Automotive Cockpit Safety (especially Android based)
  • Knowledge in location technologies and human machine interface systems
  • Experience in coaching junior safety engineers
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and regulations (e.g., ISO27001, GDPR)
