Senior Systems Engineer, superconducting magnets

Job DescriptionIn this role, you have the opportunity to

You are a key contributor to the further development of a leading MRI superconducting magnet portfolio, focusing on market leading functionality and quality in an environmentally responsible environment.

This role allows you to translate your knowledge of superconducting magnets and the associated technology into imaginative products that are at the center of the MRI systems that we create.

You are responsible for
  • Technically leading product innovation activities involving specification, design, creation, verification and validation of magnet systems and their interfaces as used in MRI systems.

  • Driving the integration of magnet systems into integrated MRI system product designs

  • Structuring and supporting execution of development activities in multidisciplinary teams, as leading systems engineer.

  • Ensuring market access for the magnet subsystems by maintaining top quality technical file structure and content

  • Ensuring requirements for components and subsystems are complete and in time, including requirement elicitation and alignment of a broad set of stakeholders

  • Driving uncompromising product safety

  • Driving top notch product reliability

You are a part of

The MR systems engineering team is a global team responsible for translating the architectural and business needs of the business into effective and reliable system design and leading the engineering activities that bring these designs to market. The team consists of highly experienced and driven people with a passion for meaningful innovation.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

You are creative and innovative, with a strong drive to deliver uncompromising quality. You naturally take the lead in your teams, have good communication skills and can interact effectively with multidisciplinary professionals at all levels in the organization. You aim to realize high quality results, with your teams, and have the will and drive to develop yourself, and your team members.

The role requires:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in technically leading roles involving superconducting magnet systems, preferably in the context of larger systems they are a part of

  • Ability to lead risk management, including patient safety related matters, with your team.

  • Several years of experience in systems engineering in major development programs.

  • An academic level of physics education, with the ability to translate academic expertise into concrete engineering designs, leading cross functional technical teams

  • Preferably significant experience in the medical industry or in a comparable regulated industry

You must have proven knowledge of/experience in:

  • Systems Engineering, Requirements Engineering, Decomposition & Budgeting methodologies (e.g. INCOSE)

  • Creating trust and managing conflict within your core design team

  • Analyzing, estimating and articulating technical risks

  • Being very clear and maintaining a firm stance when needed---while talented at building trust in working relationships

  • Leading risk based scenario thinking

Furthermore, you will:

  • Demonstrate passionate commitment to the needs of the patients, the systems users, our customers, product quality and our environment.

  • Provide vision and direction to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Be able to work under pressure to meet program time lines, meeting regulatory & business requirements

  • Take the lead and use your team management skills to achieve quality results in time

  • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills with English as a working language

  • Convince yourself and others based on facts and data

  • Act as systems engineering champion both internally and externally to the MR Business

  • Be willing to travel occasionally to the other MR development teams within Philips Healthcare across the globe, for direct contact and interaction with these teams.
